Thanks, too bad I'm working today... ![]() At least yours is exciting. Our national day just recently became a holiday, and I think most people couldn't care less. My celebration contained 90 minutes of kendo ![]() |

It is celebrated because the French Revolution marks the beginning of a new era in government around the world where eventually most european and american countries rose up against their oppressors (monarchies particularily), it is the direct inspiration of many revolutions, including the American and Mexican one (in fact, the Americans got a "little" help from the french). Basically, the ideals upon which the USA and many other countries are built were formed in the french revolution.
