u know what Neil, I've been thinking about this "reputation" system thing for a while now. And without going into why I think people who just give out negative reps without leaving their names are "insert name for female dog" i'll just say this. I would luv it, if we can find out who gives us negative rep points. Cause seriously, some people kinda uses it as a internet "shuriken" and just sucker punch the others.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to have real names required then maybe the rep thing wouldn't be necessary. I don't give out much neg rep and when I do I put my name on it. I think I'm immune from neg rep now unless I got one from the spaminator or such. I probably should give more positive rep. sometimes I go on a rep rave.
In any event neg (signed) shows that you are serious about it. It appears that you can get lots ofpositive rep and know nothing at all about kendo. Not only that but you can get neg rep frompeople who know nothing about kendo but get pissed when somebody that does know disagrees with them. Anyway, beats me. |

i like it in a way
its interesting to see what people have thought about what you have written privately though id prefer it if usernames showed up on the rep automatically also that there is no limit to how many positive rep points can be given so i dont have to spread some more around all the time i also agree with what ignatz says about having a name rule. especially since the whole swordloser thing has arisen...again another thing that would be useful would be to have a bigger pm box cheers for the questionnaire mr neil |

I'm indifferent to the reputation issue. I've used a lot of message boards before, and I've found that lamers tend to abuse reputation or post ratings, so it doesn't seem to be so important. As for real names being on the forums, I prefer as much privacy as possible, but if every other thing has been tried to jack up quality, then there's not much I can do to stop such a move.

Doesn't really bother me one way or the other but I do seem to get at least as much positive rep for putting people down as I do for making positive contributions, which is kind of strange. Also, rep from different people seem to give different numbers of points. Do you hit harder if you've got more rep yourself or something?

I like rep, it reminds me of oldschool RPG's like FFVll, where you kill that Huge Boss, and get rewarded with loads of experience and gold, and maybe even a strong weapon upgrade. Then you "level up" to level 99, which is probably redundant, since level 98 killed most enemies in one hit, but its still cool, because it makes you feel like your "the shit". Thats why we need the rep system. So when are rep says, "we are allmost famous" we can feel like we are "the shit"!
Also, its nice to know when you said something and it is appreciated, and it is nice(enlightening?) to know when you made a mistake(ie. negative rep). |
