Im guessing you never played seriously online?
Thats where the real starcraft strength lies. So beautifuly different, yet perfectly balanced races, a simple techtree still allowing lots of different tactics, yet not to complex to annoy. Ive played TA as wel, and loved it. but SC just has that little extra kick |

... Those points are the extras which kicked me out of SC. The sea/air/land combinations, the fact tat resources are not a very big trouble and the real 3d environment of Total Annihilation are still wonderful. And don't forget the nuclear weapons! For me, the best RTS ever made is still Ground Control 2, because it is only focused on tactic and strategy. Your signature is me from wednesday evening to sunday morning. |

I have troubles with this game: an army which is described as HUGE is made of ten units, resource management is more important than battle management, and moreover, the winner is the guy who clicks the fastest (that's not me). . as for nuke.. it takes time, but there is nuke in this game. i have nuked myself just to get me out of hot seat number of times. and love them ghosts. i think there are as many people who love this game as there are those who hates it, including their girlfriends and their wives.. pete |

But I cannot afford the PC which Sup Com needs I save my money for a bogu I never liked the micro part of game so I never really liked the Blizz RTS games. My micro friends hated TA. They're busy trying to figure out what this unit does while getting run over. TA was much more my type of game. Units shoot and die--build more. No special magic skills or what not. Just large numbers of units and lots of ways to throw them around. As for nukes, I never built 1 nuke--I always felt better with 5-20 of them. My computer melts before I can get one built in SupCom. I still have TA on all my PCs, SC is only on 1 one for the kids. I was expecting a Starcraft MMO announcement. |

I want to see 2,000 units but my poor aging system starts to melt far too soon. That's my temperature after a kendo training. BTW, I duplicated my TA cds, to be sure to always have the possibility to install it, and that was a good idea, because one of my original cds is dead. If your room has no environmental control, a cd has a life expectancy of about ten years. If you like a game, crack it and duplicate it! Gameburnworld is your friend. |

The Starcraft 2 site is very empty... The game iself looks like the first game. IMO, Blizzard has some wiggle room. All they have to do is upgrade the graphics and make interesting new units like the mothership for example, and people will buy this game -- even if just for the serious graphics upgrade. If I ever buy a new PC and play SC2 often, I'd like one of you to please come with a shinai to my house and keep doing kote until I can't use my hands to play the game anymore -- thanks |

OK, I finally watched the gameplay vid I missed the first time I get on the site. I'm fed up with sequels which add nothing to the original (I hope SC2 won't be like this) or games designed for 2010 computers (the same).
I'm going back to Dune 2 (nearly no relations with Dune, another great game) . For those who do not know it, check it on http://www.abandonia.com/ (when the site works). |

After playing over 1000 hours of starcraft over 3 years, I have to object to pretty much your entire post, Sparv :
I have troubles with this game: an army which is described as HUGE is made of ten units, and resource management is more important than battle management, and moreover, the winner is the guy who clicks the fastest (that's not me). ...no. Battle management is quite important in starcraft. You can have all the resources you want but if your enemy is up in your base pulling a good late game tank push, no amount of dragoon, scout, zealot, or carrier massing will save you. As for clicking fast, while it helps a lot, there are still ways around it, you know, like with superior strategy. I've beaten players who have twice my APM (actions per minute, clicks and key presses) on several occasions back in the day.... The sea/air/land combinations, the fact tat resources are not a very big trouble and the real 3d environment of Total Annihilation are still wonderful. And don't forget the nuclear weapons! Okay, you get that paragraph. Terran can still use nukes though Of course, I don't doubt that the other games you play are pretty good, I just didn't want false criticism of one of my all time favorite games, and the game Koreans have TV stations dedicated to. |
