Default Virginia Tech
I just heard of a terrible development at Virginia Tech. They are talking of more than 20 dead in a shooting. Since I know of at least one person from there who posts in this forum, I thought that I would post this to learn if he is all right. Shazzanzzz, man, let us know that you are okay.

31 Dead! The first thing I thought of was the kendoka I met at the last W&M Tournament. I hope you are all safe.

Shazznaz graduated from VA Tech and know goes to GW. I haven't talked to recently but I'm 99.95%sure he was not at VT during the shooting. Although many of his friends still go to Tech so I'm sure todays events are even tougher for him. My prayers go out to everyone at VT and their families/friends during this difficult time.

Regardless it is still a terrible tradgedy. I hope that no more dead are found, and to wish the best for the families of those who were involved.

I was shocked when I heard the new, and my first thoughts went to the people I met from VT when I was at the Yale tournament. So I hope they are all OK.

Its so sad to hear of something like this happening, I can only wonder what could motivate someone to do something so horrible.

Just sent a girl from their kendo club an e-mail expressing our concerns. Hopefully she will respond to me soon. I will let you all know as soon as possible!

Yeh, that is what I was wondering too, Ahmed. Most of it went down at the engineering department too, and that got me even more worried, since I know a lot of kendoka who are engineers.

Hey all,

I am the current president of the Kendo Club at Viriginia Tech. I would first like to thank you all for your concern over this horrible tragedy. As far as I know, no member of our club was directly involved in the shootings today, thankfully! Sadly this is still a horrific day for us all, and we had to cancel our practice since school was closed. This is a very difficult time, but we will still do our best for our kendo. If anyone is going to the Harvard tournament, we will be sure to still attend. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated as we recover from this awful day. Thank you.

It's good to hear from you. My husband and I have your club members in our hearts and prayers. Just know that there are a lot of people out there who are ready to support you guys.

Thank you very much for taking the time to place a message here, VtJason. I'm glad all the kendoka were not hurt. Our prayers are with everyone at VT and those who lost friends and family.
