Default Disaster strikes again
If I was to say "Yes, Owen. I'll pick you up to the dojo" I would've been the bridge coming down south of 35W in Minnesota where the bridge had collapsed last night. And Owen was lucky enough to cross the bridge before it was collapse.

At first, it was in New Orleans, now when it strikes home that really scare the hell out of me.

This kind of freak tragedy makes me scare and think about "If I was..." moment. So far, there are 4 dead and 60 seriously wounded. They have stopped the rescue, and now is undergoing the recovery. There are cars still sticking out from the water and people trapped inside... I'm totally in shock.

Complete freak accident...

I heard about this today. All I can say is wow, I never even knew it was possible for bridges to collapse without warning like that... insane.

Was just about to ask if the Minnesota folks were all ok. Glad to see that you're ok! My girlfriend called me as soon as she heard about it (she lives in MN) and I hope all our fellow kendoka are alright and that their loved ones are fine as well.

If ever there was a time for superheroes to exist.....

My thoughts go out to all those effected by this tragedy.

I hope no one from the KWF has suffered any losses.

I believe so, she's way up north. So she's far from the disaster.

Just seen this on the news.

That is one big collapse - I am surprised that only 4 have died.

Its the kind of thing you don't expect to happen - it seems to make it all the moer tragic and scary when it does.

I'm glad that the Kendo people on here are okay and I send my condolences to those that weren't so lucky.

One thing that seems kinda creepy is that this is the second bridge that I have traveled on often that was suceptible, and was, damaged (the other one being the I-10 bridge near New Orleans)

It was less tragic in a way thanks to some surface work that they were doing, 2 lanes on each side of the highway was closed. That's what created the jam in the first place. But imagine all 8 lanes were opened...

So far, there are 5 confirmed dead, 8 missing, and 79 seriously injured and some of the 79 are critically injured.

I never thought that she would be a swinger. But you have to be a couple to live this life style? At least that's what I learned from Mr. Flynt....

somthing similar happend here almost a year ago in the town where i live on the outskirts of montreal an over pass collaplsed onto 6 lanes of highway. somthing like 10 dead and 60 injured both the top of the bridge and the highway bellow where stacked with cars.

luckily i was 2 streets away and had just decided not to go do the groceries for my wife. if i had gone i would probable had been on that bridge.

never been so happy to be a lazy husband :P and so was my wife.

I'm glad you're all fine... When I saw that filming of the bridge collapsing my thoughts were for all my friends who lives in US... Luckyly none of them was passing that bridge in that moment and I'm glad to know that neither of you were there too.

Hope all those families get the strenght to move forward and rebuild their lives again and I hope the truth come out soon.

Hugs to all of you

Thanks for all the good thoughts to us Minnesotans... we appreciate it.

Now the silly politicians are figuring out how to build a brand new bridge within a year because the Republican Convention is gonna be in St. Paul next year... avoid coming to Minnesota next year if you're planning to, because the entire metro will be jammed back.
