Another thought. If you live live there, you help clean it. Simple rule. If you lived with me, you'd help clean or leave. If you lived on you own you'd clean everything (I hope).

I'm pretty certain you do less than the amount of work divided by the number of people in your house.

Get a paper round. That's what I did at your age (I didn't get pocket money from the age of 15).

Owen,

The problem is that you seem to have already justified your own existence in their house in monetary terms and think that that is enough, when it blatantly isn't. They house you and feed you for nothing more than helping in the upkeep of the place you inhabit. I had to do the same (hell, I was put to work in my house when I was 11 fooking years old. Cleaning the toilet is NOT fun at 11).

( im "accessing" my neighbors wireless internet on my psp because we dont have internet)
And not only are you ungrateful for free room and board at the simple cost of a bit of light labour everynow and then, you are also a thieving shit as well.

Nice.

i know this sounds stupid but i really need to talk to someone about issues with my family. it is probably unreasonable on my part but i think that doing "upkeep" on the house (ie. cleaning kitchen, mowing lawn, stuff like that) for no money is wrong. im not old enough to get a job just yet and therefore have no source of income. what should i do?
are you for real?
not old enough to have a job, but you are a sifu eh.
ive noticed a big difference between those people whos parents did everything for them, and those who had to pitch in from an early age
get over yourself and tidy your room

C'mon, Gibbo. It sucks being a teenager with no money of your own. My parents could never afford to give me pocket money but they always tried to give me a few dollars to go out with my friends or movie ticket money when they could. But our friend here does seem to be thinking of it the wrong way, for sure.

Yeah that would be me. And god dam, somebody is being an ungrateful little swine. Get the hell of my screen. Twerp.

See as I continue to post on this thread.

In 5 years, maybe less, you'll figure out that your parents were right, until then you will probably find that everything they do is wrong and disagreeable. Carry on trucking.

What did you expect?

My favourite quote about kendo world forum is "KWF, it it were a dog, it would bite you." -Some guy over on aikiweb.

Back to your grumblings: I think the reason you are getting this frosty reception is that you don't realise that most of us have been there before... Pocket money? What is that? Yeah i got the odd tuppence from mother every now and then for a sweetie or a magazine but for day to day teenage stuff I had me a paper round until i was old enough to get a job in a kitchen... oh kitchen porter days... who out there remembers those days!?
So, if you want money, go out and earn it. Plenty of reasonable suggestions which you have been very quick to shoot down.

It will be a time in your life you will look back on and hopefully smile about.. providing that it's not too shit. Seeing how you've recently been to China i'm thinking that it is not. Foreign holidays at fifteen... to train at Shaolin Temple!! My word, you've had it so bad

Heh, I'll bite to this. My parents were and still are flat broke, and I never got pocket money, really never, and until I left home and started working for myself I had literally nothing that I ever wanted as a kid. I didn't even get your "few quid to go out with friends or movie ticket money". I went to the cinema for the first time when I was 16 and doing part-time work and could pay for it myself. So this ungrateful little pubert can bite me if he thinks he deserves even the vaguest ounce of sympathy, or advice other than suck it up and get the f-ck on with it. I'm not saying I had the worst childhood in the world, but I won't kid when I say it was f-cking shocking (for extremely private "family" reasons that I won't go into here) and not something I would wish on anyone. If I could change it for what sounds like simply being made to do a bit of work at the tender age of 15, then I might well have done at the time. Now I look back on it as character building, and probably wouldn't change it. Much to the chargin of my younger self I'm sure.

See my double post goodness.

I'm not picking on you, I'm telling you the truth, and if you know that housing a teenager is tough then why do you think you should get a reward? Do you do enough past what you deem absolutely necessary to deserve money, or do you just whine about it whilst simply doing what is asked of you, as quick as possible so that you can get back to your PSP? I know which one I suspect it is.

Where did your psp come from, by the way?

So what? You didn't answer my questions. So I will assume the answers are negative and decide that you deserve nothing.

Jeez, stop the self pity bu11sh1t routine, and say to your folks, "I want earn some cash what do you recommend?". They will either say "get a job/paper round/etc" or say, "we'll give you X dollars if you do these additional chores".

Nobody here is going to write you a bleeding note;

Dear Mr and Mrs Sifu,

You are being very unfair to your son and not paying him the respect his rank deserves. I think that you should remunerate him for any time he generously spends helping out about the house. After all, it is only fair.

Your frankly and disbelievingly,

Shred Lord
The Foot Clan
Dimension X In short, grow up.

I often find replying to one post by using one post and not spreading your answers out across an hour a most rewarding form of communication.

edit : Oh, and don't get me wrong. I understand your situation, I just don't sympathise at all. And no matter how bad you want it I doubt anyone here is going to criticise the way your parents decide to raise you and spend their own money.
