Default *$%@ It's Cold!!
I guess the lakes have thawed out across the Northern Hemisphere and you are all starting to work on that "Moon-Tan" again. It's probably party time where you are! But spare a thought for the rest of us "Down Under" as we go into another Winter .

I mean, Hell, in the last 5 days, 3 of them have been under 20`celsius (68 Farenheit) where I am. It's been absolute Mayhem!! I thought it might even be too cold to go to work today,..Luckily, my worst fear wasn't realised.

So as you sip Pina Coladas by the pool, and dance to Duran Duran (I'm sure somebody, somewhere does. Probably in Europe) spare I nice, warm thought for us who are battling through another Winter. Thanks....

Well, being English I love to talk about the weather...

After days of rain (think typhoons) and flooding everywhere, the sun has broke through and I have my shorts in my bag just in case...

At Club Tropicana, drinks are free - but don't worry, there's enough for everyone.

Here, we can only dream of temperatures of 20C! That's a damn heatwave for us. Rain, floods, wind - and that's a good day!

you forgot another facts...

this year at least 3 or 4 homeless ppl have DIED by hypothermia (spell?) in the last couple of months. there has been strong winds in the south, enough to lift up small cars or ripp off a tree. in the south of AN ENTIRE LAKE HAVE DISAPPEARED in a matter of a couple of days. and the days are DAMN COLD... there has been snow falling in places that it has never happened before. etc etc

in short words, esta la caga con cuatica!

anyone who still doesnt belive in climatic changes.. well... think again

Is that a metaphor? I don't get it.

Hehe maybe you're thinking of your bag in your shorts...

Shorts are not underwear here. They're what you wear on the beach...

OK OK, I knew someone would do it....pick on the guy from the Tropics. Call me "soft" if you have to....well I think I'm "firm"! So I like to dance by the pool a little when it's summer and maybe I even have a good collection of Hawaian shirts, but I don't listen to Duran Duran! I prefer Kylie... and Steak! But anything goes at Coco Kabana, and that's cool too...Damm it's cold!!

Looking out my office window I see a (usual) dark grey sky, soaked buildings and rain... oh and plenty of shit hawks.

June 28th and the grimness is showing no signs of giving way.

My slogan for the silver city is showing cracks...

"Aberdeen; It's less grim in the summer!"

Turns out it is just as grim.

Ha..I thought you guys went the whole nine and called them "short pants", unless it's a swim suit, which, for some reason, would be called "trunks" here (no, not long-distance calls). In any case, don't get your shorts in a bag *wink*.

(we most commonly call them shorts here, too - it's all a matter of context)

On topic, it's been in the mid-90s (mid to upper 30s for you others) for the last few days with relatively high RH. I woke up this morning and my bedroom was a chilly 80F and I had the covers on. Today the cold front comes through, with some hopefully spectacular storms.

Off topic, what's up with Celsius? It's got half the resolution of Fahrenheit. When measuring environmental temperatures, nothing beats °F. It's based on the coldest days (0°) and the hottest (100°), not some arbitrary water phase thing. I mean, absolute zero (a good starting point for scientific temperature measurement) is -273.15°C - not exactly base-10, eh? I'm ardently for the metric system in all other ways, but Celsius just sucks for temperature measurement.

Over here that would be a range of 25-77F or so... back home it would be a range of 40-100F. Everywhere in the world water freezes at 0C and boils at 100C (unless you add salt) You're right though '100 in the shade' definitely sounds better than '37 and three quarters in the shade'

I thought Aberdeen was "the Granite City"?
(And all the residents were mildly radio-active due to the Radon gas...)

Ireland is the third hemisphere, there are two seasons:
  • Shitty and wet
  • Shitty, but not wet

The summer was great, it happened on Tuesday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. Il tells ya, I am really looking forward to next year's!

I'm looking throw the window, the sun is shining, there are some lovely cumulus, a perfect day to go to the airfield and flying for an hour or two in a glider.

BUT I have a ******* report to write, and there won't be any flight nor keiko today.

Actually, altitude has a large effect on the boiling point of water. At 2000m it's 93°C - at 8000m it's 75°C. Bleh, it's just messy.

The water:alcohol ratio also has a large effect
