I'm pretty sure that a lot of these counters just come from statistical data saying that 3 people die each second from something. Other than that, there really is no basis to believe that clock despite how interesting it might be to check it out for a few seconds.

I thought it was funny that they list:

"Forest lost (ha)" - Like it is funny!

And

"Oil pumped (bo)" - Like Ali G is at the helm.

And quoting "Earth temperature" to 8 significant figures!

what a load of pish.

Still, My love for you is ticking clock BERZERKER!

(ha) = hectares

"Oil pumped (bo)" - Like Ali G is at the helm. (bo) = barrels
And quoting "Earth temperature" to 8 significant figures! Linear approximation of average global temperature? ...pretty simplistic.
Still, My love for you is ticking clock BERZERKER! In an enlightened society, Berzerker should not feel threatened by this. Ignatz can explain in more detail, as he's recently been outed as a tree-hugger.

Thanks for that, it was keeping me up all night!

You rubbing some maths terms on it doesn't stop it from being a load of pish though.

PS for those who don't know the Berzerker reference... tis from Clerks.

In fairness to them I think that the earth's mean temp is rising so slowly that they had to go to that many sig figs in order for people to see the increase in real time. Would have looked kinda crap if all it said was 14.1 for the next 5 years.

Were you thinking of the "If George Bush was a Hot Blond" thread? Or maybe "Yet another final letter from Phil Wright"?

Even though it is not exact, I think it is really interesting. Thanks!

Freaky too, that it is.
