Default would you believe it
France 9
England 14

What a game!

Not beautiful but certainly a classic in my book. Both teams totally focused and committed to trying to win.

And without the pathetic diving, cheating, bleating, ref-abusing of the round ball players.

Against a decent Australian side we were good but against this French side, who were clearly another league better than the Aussies,we had to do so much better...and we did.

Sorry to break your hearts, France

As Eddie Jones is possibley the only Australian left in the comp, I'm now supporting South Africa!!

Not to be a bad loser (ok, so I'm still heartbroken - but the NZ loss did help ease the pain), but I still feel Australia defeated themselves rather than lost to a better team. And don't get me started about Johnny Wilkinson - I rekkon a recruiter from the AFL should think about getting him to switch codes.

I'm just hoping the final is a good fast free-flowing game.

Seeing that match, and in particular Wilkinson's last two kicks, was like watching someone win with two hansoku...valid, but dissapointing...

.
the press here reported that before the England-Australia game, someone from the Australian team looked at a picture of the England team, pointed to Jonny Wilkinson and said "is that all you've got".

Looks like it was enough.

I can see why you might but Tomas Castaignede (ex France international) has been one of the pundits on ITV and he reckoned that England deserved it on the day. And its no good being the better team on paper if you cannot produce the goods on the day.

Well, our coach did obvious mistakes (trying to outkick the english ? I don't think so... Traille as a backward ? bad choice, he's a good player, but not a backward. Make the Hobbit go in ? We beat NZ partly because he did not play), and it was one of Michalak's "bad days".
I'm not saying the win is not deserved, but I can't help feeling frustrated, as we give the english almost all their opportunities, rather than them struggling to create opportunities. I'm frustrated because they played like crap.

If England had lost there would have been extreme party mode here. Everyone was celebrating the demolition of the Ukranians add in an England defeat too and it would have been like Mardi Gras... only colder and a bit shit.

Nah, hope you guys manage to win it... without Wilkinson.

I really enjoyed the game as did all the folks around me in the Pub where i watched it

it wasnt pretty boy rugby - good old fashioned blood and guts rugby

and as for the hansoku jibe - if they hadnt commited the foul they wouldnt have been punished would they ?

there arent half some sore losers about

so onwards to history with a bit of luck

whatever the outcome the final is going to be a great match - good luck to both teams (bit a bit more to England :-)

cheers
