As i said in my original post (above ) i want to lose weight for more than 1 reason, primarily because i want to live longer, this will also have the added benefit of giving me more time (years) to practice Kendo and iai and be with my wife , she reckons she dont look good in widows weeds
secondly it will have the additional benefit of making it easier to improve my stamina again benefiting my kendo self image does play a relatively small part .............it makes it easier to get clothes to fit if you are not a short FF(see above) like me am 5foot 9 tall well according to my Docs charts, i should be around about 166lb or (12stone for the civilized) BUT the nurse in the surgery estimates this would be to light and 13 stone would be more realistic thats 186lb ...Hell at the moment id be happy with 14stone thats 196lb Going to try for 12.5 stone thats 175lb to keep the Doc happy What really did it was called into have my blood pressure checked, was weighed by the nurse who asked if i had done any serious sport , replied yes used to do Judo when i fought in the under 72 kg (thats 159lb) so she sez oh put on a QUARTER of your body weight since then havent you !! that was a bit of a salutary comment and one hell of a shock Dont eat junk foods or at burger bars dont drink beers or larger etc but Gotta do it ..................not because i need to but because i want to |

I voted for perfect in terms of weight, I'm 1,82m and 65kg, I think that's ok, not perfect but neither too thin nor too fat.
The only thing I'm hoping to do is eat more healthy food, more veggies and fruit etc. I'm going to move into my first own apartment to go to uni so I can finally do what I want to. |

Too short? You damn short people, always complaining. Try being tall. Have fun hitting your head on shelves, and getting racked by the edge of a table. Yeh, you guys have a disadvantage on men strikes, but your do is...well its way down there.

funny thread.... i'm 183cms and around 70~74kgs. so i'm on my 'normal healthy' weight tho leaning a bit on the thin/skinny/lean side.
some months ago when i asked my sensei what was lacking, or what should i improve in my kendo he said.... "umm... you need to eat more/gain more weight...". lol. so i started eating more and gained like 4~5 kgs. but i didn't notice any improvement in my kendo because of it. so i think i'll lose them again. anyway, i'm fit, i'm lean but athletic, i'm relatively sort-of agile as is, so i'm sorry sensei but i don't think i'm going to gain weight to improve my kendo... lol. what i DO need (and i'm sure that's what my sensei really meant in the end) is to feel "heavier", more stable, less jumpy, and overall look 'stronger' and stable in my kendo performance, like a mountain or a rock/brickwall. unmovable and down-to-earth. but i guess you can achieve that without actually gaining weight. just by correcting posture, footwork and kamae.... or at least i hope so... lol. p.s. oooh dooowg, pls don't start a thread about short, lefty, mini-me ppl. dont give ideas jenny! |

Yep!
183cm and 110kg with a beer belly! Too much pasta, cheese, beer, wine, bread, crudo, chokolade, grappa, salami, icecream.... That Italian diet is wayyy too fattening for us nordic types. I went from 103kg to 110kg this summer alone just by getting married and spending honeymoon in Naples and Capri! I could really do with losing some 20to25kg rather than buying new pants! |

Fuji feel too fat? (although my goal is to be Godzilla rather than Mt. Fuji .. unmovable is nice and all, but an invincible weapon of mass destruction that can just destroy entire cities is soooo much nicer "What have you seen, old man?" ... "Godzilla ... Godzilla!" ) |
