Default Fukasa Kai Aikido
Hey guys,

I don't have a e-budo account so I was wondering if some of you that do can pull up some info on fukasa-kai aikido. From what I have been able to gather so far, from a quick google search and browsing through their pages, is that it's not legitimate. Any further information would help though. I'm asking for those who have e-budo accounts because there was apparently a thread discussing it a few years back.

So, when I woke up today, I did a kendo world search (which is probably what I should have started with, but I was drunk so forgive me), and it turns out my suspicions are true. Fukasa is not legitimate.

I use to take Aikido at Aikido Yoshinkai but I was not mature enough to commit to it and quit before my first grading. The university I'm currently in offers an Aikido class instructed by a man who belongs to the Fukasa school. He seems to a generally good guy, and doesn't claim to be anything other then a shodan in Aikido who has attained his teaching certificate. By going to one of his classes, and from my limited experience, I know that he knows at the very least basic Aikido. He said he also teaches iai and kempo, and I was interested in taking iaido with him.

Now I'm at a crossroads. I find him to be a good guy, and his students to be genuine people. Should I out his school for what it is to the university, or stay quiet about it?

I guess I wouldn't be so concerned with his school if the soke of it had not claimed such lineage. At the same time though, the sensei has been pretty humble about himself. What do you guys think?

Unless they are breaking any rules, then I don't think your university will give a crap.

Also, if you enjoy going there and the people are nice, then I don't see any reason why you should avoid it either.

This is of course all based on me not knowing anything at all who these guys are. If they are evil and eat babies, then I retract my statements

The thing is with aikido us that when you are a newb it is hard to sort the wheat from the chaffe. This is a consequence of training in that we don't seek to injure our partners and we give them our centre (at least in the beginning, after a year or so the bastard comes out ).

Go and watch, if the teacher is nice and knowledegable (MOST IMPORTANT CRITERIA) and the stuff they do inspires you then go for it and give it a try.

If you come from a Yoshinkan background, any style is going to be soft!
