Hi guys,

if we made some KW merchandise, would you seriously buy the stuff. Not enough people buy the magazine for a start. We are really hurting here!

I guess the universe to actually sell KW things are too few people. so I have an idea.
why dont we talk with the people of KW magazine to actually sponsor us? (yeah, sure!)

thats a good deal, they give us kendo world t shirts and we give them the honour of wearing them in tournaments and life!

no?

I think you might, but i'd not look at it as a money making endevour (tho it may well make money for you) but i'd look to it as a way to market your Mag.

I reckon there are 2-3 million dan grades world wide outside of japan who would be interested in Kendo World. But the only time i have seen it advertised is at the WKC and the odd time it comes up in organic SERPS.

If I were you I would optomize your website and have a store selling cool kendo gear, and also sell the kendo merchandise on ebay. (like http://www.topexpressions.com/servle...?keyword=KENDO I have bought 8 items of clothing from them). But I would use have it as a purely marketing exercise.

I would use these cool, funky items to appeal to young kendoka so they wear them to their dojo and therefore advertise your magazine for free for you. There are just so many people that dont use the net and i find it hard to explain about this site or the whole idea of a forum. Practically getting your name out to them would see a big change in your business I think.

I've lost count of the number of times people have come up to me and asked me where i got my this hoodie.
http://www.topexpressions.com/catalo...00000.MAIN.jpg
I have a few of these and so does my wife.

But even a good quality kendo world shinai/bogu bag etc. I'd much rather advertise KW than E-Bogu (as I have their T-shirts and shinai bags etc), as I get a lot more back from KW in terms of articels and forum.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Well, to be honest, I did think about subscribing, but I was kind of iffy on spending $40 for 4 issues of a magazine I've never seen before. Also, I do Iaido but not Kendo, so I really wasn't sure how much there would be in the magazine for me. What really killed it, though, was the cost of shipping. Being published on the other side of the world just makes it more expensive than I want to spend on a magazine.

in regards to subscription, few months ago i did fill out an order form for the subscription plus some books and manuals as well as back issues...but then had questions re: the shipping costs...apparently there was shipping cost for each item that i was ordering. you did explain the why of the situation, and that you will soon remedy it (that the warehouse for the back issues were at different locations). wondering if the situation had been resolved...holding out until then...

e.g.

ordering back issue (e.g.) #1, #2, #3, #4, i expect to get them at one shipment and not 4 separate shipments, but i was being charged for 4 different shipments. similar issue with the manuals and books as well...

Unless those things would be solved it would be uninteresting.

Putting a storefront on the KW site is just something technically, there should be a budget that they would be willing to fee up.

I think that a storefront could be earned back by offering Japanese stores which would be interested to sell to a global market space and translation for a slight fee.

This way KW doesn't need to have storrage but is just the intermediate for something which alot of us out here really like.

This same storefront could be the place on which the magazine and if possible KW goodies like a KW mug, KW beenie, KW baseballcap, KW Tshirt, KW girlie shirt ofcourse don't forget the KW napkins as we need to start young.

The possibility to have these items sold at the larger tournaments would be another thing.

I would definitively buy the stuff, maybe you can look at a small investment to see how it goes (fifty or so t-shirts mugs or whatever).

Have you considered having a donation option on the website, maybe those that can't afford a full subscription can spare a bit less money. The mag is ace, and being the only english magazine I would support it.

Lars'/bobdonny's idea is good too.

Enkorat, you are genius, can't rep you......
