You seem to be a nice kid even though I've watched you for a long time and seem to catch a lot of grief. Mostly deserved, sometimes not. Even though you could have been more creative and come up with something funnier to start this thread, at least it's not as misguided as some of the other stuff you have said on here. So I think I'll play along and participate:

What would be the most embarrassing case during kendo?

Losing to you 0-2...

Just kidding man. Gotta have a little fun.

I'd say the most embarassing thing that happened to me is when there was a visiting Sensei and I was scrambling around translating and making sure everything was running well. When it came time for Ji-Geiko, I wanted to participate too. So I rushed to put my Men and Kote on and get in line for the Sensei. Only thing was that I was in such a hurry that I did not realize that I had never put on Do and Tare.

Needless to say, I lost my spot in line.

Bring you new sexy girlfriend to watch your shiai, but you lose 0-2 in 10 seconds of shiai to a 12 year old girl with nuki-men, and just as you head back to sonkyo, you hakama falls to the ground leaving you all "la natural" , then you trip over and break you toe, you have to be carried off, whilst everyone cannot help themselves pissing themselves laughing!

Been target dummy for a demonstration and realising I have forgotten to put my Kote on. There is no graceful exit.

have forgotten the do a couple of times as well.

Most recent one was,

Checking on a beginner who was carring an injury only to realise half way through our conversation that we had accused other club members of attempting to chat her up. Sure enough as soon as I had gotten back down stairs....

You know in 10-15 yrs Kendoka_Han is going to go on a Kendo oddosy in the USA and single you out.

Actually, during my 3 dan exam in front of like 200 people I briefly knocked my 2nd partner unconscious! We both passed, but I was so embarassed, I tried to hide afterwards but being the only foreigner at the test made it almost impossible!

What on earth were you using as a weapon?
A cricket bat, perhaps??

I have, on occassion, wished that I had a suburi bokken in my hands.........

I dont do kendo, but I do have a nightmare scenario involving a public Jodo-embu. Basically my hakama is too long and I trip on it quite often, either when going forward or backwards. 99% of the times during regular practice I manage to save the situation..but 1% of the cases I can literary fall on my arse!
I would really hate to do that during a public embu!

Surely, to cough, fart and follow-through in a crowded hall during shiai would be the worst case scenario?

Especially if you then proceeded to slip over in it...

(2 weeks ago)I pulled a leg muscle...

...just behind my backside.

I am sure that this is a memorable moment which the sempai won't forget my name in a hurry, all for the wrong reason.

Sempai: "Are you ok?"

Me: "err..."

one of my worse moments... I turned up to training with 3rd Dans (1 visiting sensei) and above and little old me a 4th kyu at the time... Got too nervous and tripped on the hakama... twice....

not my finest moment but made me realize relax and it'll all be ok.

Didn't this thread used to be called "Top 5 uncomfortable kendo situations"?

Don't know if this counts, but last month I managed to break one of the sensei's fingers. I've been feeling pretty low down and embarrassed every time I see him since then.

I've seen the running to get in line, trip on hakama, face plant. That would be pretty bad. But my worst fear when I started kendo was that I'd tie the hakama wrong and they would fall right off during class. I've seen it happen

Yeah Martino... I'll keep my eyes out in case he does hunt me down to create a new embarassing moment for me 10~15 years down the road.

Speaking of more embarassing moments... I did have one recently involving a cute girlfriend.

I have been going out with this girl since last October and felt that it was time that she came and saw me compete. I'm no champion at this stage in my Kendo life, but I am still consistently in court finals and win the occasional third place or even the rare title at smaller tournaments. I wanted to put on a good show for her at the last Detroit Kendo Tournament in February.

For the first time in probably over a decade... I went 0-3-1 and did not score a single point! Yes, I lost to quality opposition, but man... I lost my opening round in individuals to some young kid from Toronto in a very long match, and I was a big hindrance for the team since I was Chuken and really cost us.

I kept wondering if she thought that I was lying to her that I was pretty good at this stuff.

Any football fan would get this one, but when I came home, everyone at work started calling her "Jessica Simpson."

I assume you mean in the dojo and not some drink-related incident? Now THAT would be bad!

Yeah, on the floor. He was distracted by some off-floor student behaviors, and I tried to take advantage of it and went for a strong, straight men, he tried to whip out men-nuki-men, but the timing didn't quite work, his hands coming up, my shinai coming down, I broke his left pinkie. Accident, but I still feel pretty low and down.

Look at it this way - Guilt is Nature's way of telling you that you're a decent person. If you were an asshole, you probably wouldn't care if you busted his finger.

Hope that makes you feel better, dude.
