It looks like Kendo World is getting too popular! There was so much traffic that the server decided to go on strike. Anyway, Hamish sent me the following mail, so it should be better than ever before ...

"The server is in the process of being upgraded from a Celeron with 512MB of RAM, to a Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM, expanded hard drive space, and even greater monthly bandwidth. I have also requested a server and MySql optimisation to be carried out on the server to make sure everything is working as well as it should."

Should be okay now.

Wow, KWF survived on a Celeron with 512MB of memory?

Glad to hear that things are not only ok, but will be better than before!

That's was my thinking too! A Celeron? 512 MB RAM? For things faaaar less important that KW, we use Quad Core Xeons with 8 GB RAM and a couple of tera of HD space in RAID 0+1...

Whoever run that server, is my hero!

I can't really say how happy I am to see things back into normality! My hands were shaking due to abstinence... (OK, Corwyn, go ahead with the jokes... I don't care, KW is baaack!!!!)

... I've been trying to post his for the last 45 minutes, but the server is too busy... I wonder why...

... make that one hour...

Ho-leeeee CWAP!!!!!

A "Celeryon" computer?!? I thought our ancient Mac G4 Mirror Drive running OS 9.22 was bad!! The poor bugger's been running on duct tape, bailing wire, and dried cooked rice (poor man's paste).

Ok, gangies... let's get ready to put that Core 2 puppy through its paces!!!

Thank goodness the website is back up. I didn't realize how much I look forward to my daily Kendo dose. I had about three thread ideas come and go in the past five days it's been down. You can all thank that Celeron for not having to read them.

According to the forum own statistics, there are more than 1.700 active members. If everyone of them donates two or three dollars, KW can buy a decent low-mid level server, like an IBM xSeries. I kwnow, we all should suscribe and this things wouldn't happen, and it is in my list, but before that, a couple dollars won't kill anyone, and they can really make a difference.

I`m starting a thread about this, to see how people react.

Awesome, the board is back up, it was good timing since I had exams and all.

Running it on a celeron with 512, kudos for lasting as long as it did.
