Kumdoka( 검도가 ): 0 Kumdoja( 검도자 ) : 0 Kumdoin(검도인 ) : countless..... Kumdoin( 검도인 ) is what everyone is using. But mostly we use such word Kumdoin in writing. (Wrong), Are you a Kumdoin ? others will say (what the hell are you talking about?) (Right way of asking) Do you practice Kumdo ? |

Pretty much same. couple of differences are Kumdo doesn't do sonkyo and using blue flag during shiai instead of red flag. Terminilogies are translated to Korean. That is all...
If you want more, check out this movie. This is documentary about Korean Kumdoka who lost his hands while he was working at the factory. It is about his story who goes to regional competition. Great story, sorry it is in Korean... http://www.star-kumdo.co.kr/movies/kim.asx Hey, |

Andou,
You are not being rude or offensive. Correct word would be Kumdo-in. "In" means human(人). However, we usally don't say "I am Kumdoin". We would rather say "I do(play, practice) Kumdo." Hey hey. Not sure if I'm being offensive (I'm really trying not to be...just curious). But since Korea has Kumdo, is there a set Korean word for Kendoka? I don't know many Korean words and since Korea is also doing kendo, I'd at least like to try and learn some vocabulary if I come across it for the future. Thanks. |

I understand. But we do not use direct translation. I don't know why but correct term is Kumdoin 검도인, instead of Kumdoja검도자. If you go to Korean Kumdo Association(KKA)'s website, they used Kumdoin(검도인) as kendoka..
현재 검도인구는 약50만명, 대한검도회에 등록된 유단자 수는 10만명을 넘었다. you sure? wldnt it be kendojin in japanese if tht were true? |
