Unless ironing is some sort of waza, I have no idea why this thread is remotely related to kendo. Frankly the idea of ironing any kind of underwear has me VERY concerned about the social connectivity of those here that have the time for that kind of effort.

No it's not a waza which is why I didn't post this in any of the technical fora. It's called the Lounge and it's for general chat.

The trick to letting your sleeping/napping body iron your stuff, when putting clothes inc. Kendo wear under your mattress...is remembering it's there. When airing my mattess in the sun t'other day, "found" what had been a long-lost gi.

They seemed pretty particular about 'smart' appearance at my grading in Solihull although there was no checking of this and that. My sempai made sure my white shitagi wasn't showing too much from behind my Iaigi! I suppose its just respectful to the grading panel to make sure you are tidy and I think it puts you in 'successful' frame of mind! When I was an undergrad we had to wear a suit for our exams, especially the vivas. In addition to this, when my Father was doing his professional exams they even stipulated which pen to use (Parker fountain, black ink) and what kind of boiled sweets were allowed to be taken in to the examination hall!

Oh yes there was. .... We can see from across the room - - little reason to be within arms-length to check someones attire/presentation.

Trust me - - - if you look[ed] like a bag of shit this will be [was] noted.

Bill, your perspectives are all wrong. It wasn't a jelly mould, it was a single cup from an ice tray.
Thank God - - - that this supports my assertion that I have never noticed [in any detail] the size of your bag of sweets.

Does the BKA require that a shitagi has to be white? Would a black shitagi be acceptable (with a black Iaigi)?

As the shitagi should not be seen, it makes no difference if it had a Marvin Martian print all over it.

Yes but there's always that little bit pokes out the top and if one is slightly portly the problem is further exacerbated. So I was thinking of dyeing mine black.

...or wear it properly.

TBH if it pokes out a tad, I wouldn't fret.

Wear it properly? Surely there's only one possible way of wearing it?

Yes, with it completely (or at least, mostly) hidden.

I use Velcro 'coins' to keep my Iaigi well closed during seminars/gradings.

Have your Taylor make alterations. I iron my hakama now and then. I have a terrible weakness for ironing tenegui. I also iron my Sensei as she is getting a bit wrinkled.
