Default sword spinning

Anyone want to strap a go-pro to their shinai/bokken for kata?

That video made me dizzy just watching it. It's interesting the different perspective. The sword is still in the shots but everything else appears to be spinning out of control around it.

Is this from a langswcherdt school or somethin?

Edit: Nevermind. It is from a tournament for historical fencing schools I think. Looks like they are using shinpan style judging though.

That's a bit of an odd thing to do, but is a nifty way to tackle the concept of frames of reference... I might borrow that video for physics!

"In the room's frame of reference everything else is still and it is the sword that moves, whereas in the sword's frame of reference it is still and everything else appears to be moving."

Pretty awesome.

Suggestions, they should put the camera on the other end of the sword so we can see where it flys around.

Also, let's do this with our Shini's for the lolz.

Your right, "Swordfish" is a HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) event that includes competition matches with longsword and also other formats like sword and buckler.

Here is a match from the same event that shows a nylon longsword simulator they have been developing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5IrR...eature=related

I think it's interesting because the manufactuers have expressed interest in making nylon simulators for other sword types like the broadsword and single handed sabers and nylon Katanas may end up on the list.

Also the big guy is hilarious.
