Default ABCTV strange ways.
The ABC are an important tool for WAFL football.... The most important tool.

But if they question ratings then they must look at themselves and their schedualing.

Already for the 3RD TIME THIS YEAR !! , the ABC are showing games that have already been televised. This week they are showing the South Fremantle v West Perth game. This match was televised only 6 weeks ago. They have shown Perth v Subiaco games twice already & Subiaco v West Perth twice also.

It makes no sense and it is something they have never done before. Subiaco and West Perth have had a good run with 6 games each shown on TV. This amount is double to the next clubs (EF, C, P, PT and SD) all having 3 games.

East Perth have been televised only 2 times this year, and not since round 3.

If the ABC are not prepared to show games that are most likely to have a better audience, then there will continue to be question marks over ratings. Only last year the talk was about how well ratings were looking for the WAFL. For it to suddenly be an issue is not suprising going by this crazy schedualing.

It must be said though, why repeat games already shown and 3 times already. Having only just passed the half way mark it seems bloody stupid.

I smell a rat here gasman in regards the games being shown on the ABC, especially with the talk of ratings being looked at as to why the telecasts should continue!

i was thinking it was my imagination that east perth haven't had a fair share on tv.i know we have had a foundation monday game.one sunday game.a game in manjimup and a twilight game on saturday that don't fit saturday arvo programming.i looked into the budget as i thought we were due one. but no some clubs have two games in the next three.it reminds me of the nineties when only 6pr & abc, were covering footy and we couldn't get on the radio.i remember one foundation day when all stations were covering the fremantle derby.fortunatley community radio has jumped on board and most games get covered on radio

No, it's not your imagination Chaddy. We have appeared on TV only twice so far this season, once as visitors and once as the home team and co-incidently in the second and third weeks of the season. The ABC do Country matches, so I was disappointed that they didn't travel to Manjimup and show our win over the knuckledraggers.

I took out a summary of all Clubs appearances and these are those up to and including Round 18.

C - 2H, 2A
EF - 2H, 1A
EP - 1H,1A
P - 2H, 1A
PL - 1H, 2A
SF - 2H,2A
S - 3H, 4A
SD - 3H
WP - 2H, 5A

Those numbers will most probably even up as the season goes on though you would think.

AND ITS HAPPENING AGAIN THIS WEEKEND !!

The ABCTV game this weekend is Subiaco v Swans, which is yet another double up. This game was already televised last time this year !! This is just madness by the ABC who previously have prided themselves on variety with telecasts. This is now the fourth time this year they have done this.

In the meantime there is a massive game at Claremont Oval (C v EF) which see's two geniune top sides in their prime playing for 1st spot. And they question why ratings have been sliding ?? Its just poor planning, very poor.

Fair enough Swans being on TV as they've received very little exposure - but this will be Subi's 8th game (fair suck of the saveloy)!
About a month ago, a fellow Royals fan (he sounded too old to be either Gas or Macs!) called the ABC's 9.30am Friday sports segment and mentioned the dearth of Royals games on TV after we had our first two games (losses) televised.
Clint Wheeldon (and I do enjoy the passion Clint puts into his match commentary) gave some long-winded excuse, but finished up by saying that EP supporters would have something to look forward to very soon.
WE'RE STILL WAITING, CLINT AND AUNTY ABC!!!

Gday Fitzy, well it certainly wasnt me on the radio that day. Though I have been on many times back in the old Georgie G days.

My issue is mainly with the ABC showing the same games. Subi & Swans has already been seen, much like Subi v Perth, Subi v West Perth and South Freo v West Perth. Apparently we have the last 3 games which is all well & good. But Swans and Subi does not have the interest that the Tigers/Sharks game has this week.

They want ratings ? You could have fooled me.

O jeez BOO HOO..........how about getting your lazy bodies down to the game instead of sitting on your fat rear ends sucking on a can and getting more obese.....

As if the ABC care about what you girls have to say anyway......they are just looking for an excuse to can the whole thing......so if you fat boys wanna keep watching the game, you had better make arrangements with your belly's to shift from your lounge room to the game.........life be in it!

I've never understood why they don't choose what game to show as the weeks go by. They could still try to spread the viewing over the 9 sides, but on a week like this you'd logically choose the top of the table clash. I hope it wouldn't affect crowd numbers too much, would never stop me going, but its all about overall promotion of the wafl competition and it should be done properly.

I cannot believe you ladies have not worked this out..

It has become a health issue with the ABC and a duty of care thing.... basically clubs like West Perth and Subi have on average healthy supporters that are fit and look after their health..
On the opposite end of the food chain you have East Perth who have obese unhealthy supporters who really do need to get out of the house.....

This is how they work out the tv fixtures........

Also from Gasman - "Apparently we have the last 3 games."

Not so Gas.

Here are the next four Rounds according to this week's Football Budget.

Round 19 - Subiaco v Swan Districts
Round 20 - Swan Districts v Peel Thunder
Round 21 - East Fremantle v South Fremantle
Round 22 - Subiaco v EAST PERTH.

Whoopee, we finally rate a mention. An away game at home against.... guess who? Yup, SOOBIYACKER.

Obviously Phil Lamb has a big say in what games they telecast. And no i'm not being cynical. Jeez subi hardly need such a big leg up to attract sponsorship, Banks will be approaching them for a loan soon.
