Default Media Promotion Of WAFL
At one end of the scale we have saturation coverage of everything that is AFL. Then we have our WAFL grassroots footy which is a major feeder competition into the AFL and is always struggling for media exposure, especially in the television arena. It then seems very weird to find that there is a television programme screening each Tuesday night on GWN which covers football issues in the lesser country leagues throughout our state, even though it has a very late timeslot at 10.30 pm. I know we have great live coverage of a game each week courtesy of the ABC,but I would also love to see a forum type programme which could cover aspects such as game reviews, game previews, major issues, etc.Any thoughts from other posters?

What i would like to see is former WAFL players get involved in media coverage of the WAFL. I think once a footballer has had a taste of AFL then they tend to look down at the WAFL and it's all about the big game. But there are hundreds of WAFL players that go on to play 100 - 250 league games who never made it at AFL level or maybe made an AFL list but got delisted early and they would make ideal experts to cover and talk WAFL.

There was WAFL World or what ever it was called on Ch31 which i think is reborn again as WTV? I thought it was reasonably good when the late Trevor Sprigg ran it and after him Harvey Deagan did a reasonable job but after that it went down hill fast.

It needs a bloke up the front who knows what he's doing and how to run a show and orchestrate it. And they need 4 panelists who will each attend 1 WAFL match per weekend so they know what they are talking about. There is nothing worse than seeing people fumbling about reading off a stat sheet and making out as though they have some idea of the game.

The ABC do a great job but i had to laugh when they were previewing the Perth v Claremont game and they listed some in's and out's for both clubs and the only gains they could come up with for Perth were Jarrod K-T, Damon White and Frank Agostino. Unfortunatley Agostino announced about 3 or 4 weeks ago he has abandoned his comeback plans so that shows even these guys are not right up to speed with what's happening. They also could have listed about another 5 or 6 in's.

I actually think Perth needs a decent AFL show of it's own. I'm sick of seeing these Victorian biased footy shows that skim over the WA teams and most teams from outside Victoria while they bang on about 1 or 2 Victorian clubs every week. It drives me mad.
