Nets sign Spanish league star Mirza Teletović to deal

AP You may not know who Mirza Teletović is, but he has been on the radar of NBA teams for a while — the Bosnian power forward has been one of the better offensive players in Europe for a few years.
And he is coming to the Nets, he has inked a three-year deal to play in Brooklyn, confirms Howard Beck of the New York Times.
Nets are using midlevel exception to sign Teletovic to 3-yr deal. Means: 1. they cannot go over $74 mil payroll. 2. Can’t use MLE for KiddThat’s a pretty big investment. It means they are limited in what they can take back in a Dwight Howard trade. What are the Nets getting for their money? The blog Nets are Scorching talked to someone who has followed his career through Europe, including in the elite Spanish league the last few seasons.
Mirza Teletovic is a stretch four with a mean streak. He’ll walk into the NBA and right away have one of the smoothest long distance strokes. His jumper is his most lethal weapon. No matter how close you think you’re guarding him, Mirza will find space to get off his quick release shot. His confidence is always sky-high.
Teletovic shoots in a wide variety of ways; coming off screens, pulling up, or his specialty, off the pick and pop. Say Deron Williams does stay with the Nets. Williams’ offensive prowess will make teams double him off the pick so much that Teletovic will murder defenses popping off of them….
Defensively he’ll have trouble against stronger post players who want to bang but he should do a better job against more mobile power forwards. Rebounding isn’t one of his strengths because of how much time he spends outside the paint, but if given the assignment, his decent hops and strength can gobble up some boards. The player comparison used is Ryan Anderson and Channing Frye. If the Nets get that kind of production out of a stretch four it could be of real value (especially if Deron Williams is running the show and Dwight Howard is shoring up the defense and rebounding in the paint. But that’s another issue.
Bottom line, good signing for the Nets. They were far from the only NBA team with their eyes on Teletovic.

I don't know how the Nets are going to get Howard, they don't have that much to trade with after the Johnson deal.

i think it was noted somewhere earlier that would require both Humphries and Brooks to accept sign and trade deals to the magic.

So let's break thus down. Lopez is far from a nobody, Brooks showed some good stuff this year, Humprhies is a meh player that sadly will get some looks this year (really hope sixers don't go for him) and if they were to get Howard those picks wouldn't be lottery, but your shit assessment would be dead on.

Bynum would be the best player in the proposed deals going back, but it'd be another guy you'd have to add to a sign and trade. Overall, not too much different. Unless you're trying to count Artest as a a non-nobody at this point.

Oh come on... You dont trade the 2nd best player in the entire league for a guy "Who showed some good stuff" and a "Meh Player" so yeah in this case they are nobody in comparison to Howard.

Lopez is ok but for being as big as he is, his physicality blows. He's shit on the glass and on defense. If you wanna go ahead and say thats a fair deal then fine but I think Orlando didnt pull the trigger on it last year due to the fact is.. You do not trade a superstar for MEH players and picks. You better get a proven stud in return or else youre getting fucked.

Not that I feel bad for him, Why in the hell did he waive that opt out clause??? Then come out and say the Magic blackmailed him into doing so. Blackmailed him with what? What was the dirt they had on him? Then this shit where he doesnt wanna play in LA because he wants to star on a team on his own... Well hows that worked out for ya so far Dwight? Doesnt wanna follow in Shaq's footsteps? Dont worry Dwight, you arent.

Agreed, as big a douche as I think Lebron is, I dont recall half as much drama and whining on his side. He just waited, colluded with Bosh and Wade and did that asshole announcement thing and moved on. No demands, no crying about blackmail blah blah blah..

Report: Reggie Evans headed to Brooklyn in sign-and-trade

AP Clippers fans are not going to like this.
Reggie Evans, and his physical play and flopping, became a Clippers fan favorite over the course of season. But multiple reports now have him gone from Los Angeles headed to Brooklyn. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports and the NBC Sports Network broke the report.
Brooklyn is finalizing a sign-and-trade deal with the Los Angeles Clippers for Reggie Evans, league sources tell Y! Sports. The Nets can absorb Evans into a $3 million trade exception they have. The Clippers will get a future second round pick.
Evans is an old-school power forward who can do one thing exceptionally well — rebound. Last season he grabbed one in five rebounds when he was on the floor, and that was actually worse than the year before (he grabbed 25 percent of the available boards when he was on the floor with the Raptors). He is physical, draws and gives fouls, defends hard, turns the ball over too much but can score on putback and dunks.
Nets fans, you’re going to love him. Ask Clipper fan.

I wonder if the half the announcement thing was ES*N's doing? They have been on the LeBron's dick since he was a senior in high school.

Adam Morrison is back, will play for Nets in Summer League

If you are a guy with some skills willing to play for the veterans’ minimum, the New Jersey Nets might be the team to hook up with — whatever happens with Dwight Howard they are loaded with big contracts and need some affordable talent.
Enter Adam Morrison.
The former No. 3 overall pick of the Bobcats, last season showing some confidence and playing well in Serbia, will play for the Nets in Summer League, reports Yahoo’s Marc Spears on twitter.
The Nets are looking for a few guys who can contribute while not costing much. There was a time when Adam Morrison could flat out shoot the rock. We’ll see for ourselves if things are different, but it’s a good Summer League look for the Nets. For Morrison, even if he doesn’t land the long shot and get back in the NBA, the real business of Summer League is guys getting good deals in Europe and he can try to do that.

Humphries and Lopez. Brooks is still under his rookie deal.

And a reason why Bynum isn't as attractive to the Magic is that Bynum's contract is up at the end of next season as well. They'd pretty much be trading the Howard Saga for the Bynum Saga.

Two things in DRulz's post to note as well--Otis Smith turned down the Net's offer, and he's gone. And cap room is a big thing the Magic would get back as well, shipping out Turkoglu or Richardson with Howard.

I find it interesting that the Lakers are actually thinking World Peace is an attractive trade piece, though.

So, the Nets get Teletovic to take the mini-midlevel, opening them up again for you know what.
