i mostly watch kollywood but bollywood's storylines are better it not always the same old story girl likes guy and guy likes girl its different. take 36 china for example its a love story ok but its a muder mystery thats my point or even black. bollywood movies are different when tamil movies are same old story. some tamil movies are good like ghajini but i just think bollywood does a better job. in tamil movies they dont spend much money to take the fims. in hindi movies they go to forgien countries not just to shoot songs like in tamil movies.in kal ho na ho its new york and kinda india so its different........................

Alrite...let us analyse both aspects of Cinema then...i seriously feel Malluwood produces classier movies than this two.
Kollywood Kollywood movies focus on entertaining the audience rather than making movies from the soul. Most of their movies are romantic or sentimental potboilers with the occasional masala film in the midst. Usually Kollywood has some sort of patter in which it follows the formula of a predecessor film. After the introduction of Aaru as a gangster film and having moderate success more films ensued in the same manner with pattiyal, pudhupettai, chithiram pesuthadi to name a few. This was also illustrated after vikraman's family sentimental potboilers were followed through by similar stories like anandam...punnagai desam. However Kollywood has some of the best technician like PC Sriram, Arvind Krishna as cinematographers...AR Rahman and IR in music, VT Vijayan in editing to name a few. The good thing about Kollywood is it has a mix of both offbeat films and mass entertainers be it romantic action or comedy and their offbeat films are totally original with a extra focus on human relationships which was started by K Balachander. Bollywood Bollywood films used to be quite similar to kollywood with a slight differentiation in the presentation. After their close association towards hollywood they changed their image completely where they started producing films with innovative storylines and gave more focus on glamour just like hollywood. Offbeat films are more on the rise with provoked and water being some of the films that have evoked interest in the circles. However some of these films bear a very similar resemblance to hollywood style of filmmaking which greatly reduces the originality aspect. |

http://thatstamil.oneindia.in/specials/cinema/specials/mamooty.html I agree with Mamooty's comments wholeheartedly. Lot of very good natural films (esp from Kerala) are being ignored by the NA committe. They gave NA for Saif Ali khan |

I hate to say this, but Bollywood is ahead of tamil cinema here.
If we have a Anupam Kher here in tamil cinema's censor committee, I foresee many changes happening in our tamil cinema as well. Still we see that the word "mayiru" is cut in our tamil cinema's. If this situation continues, then our directors will not be in position to take further bold steps. what say ? |

What I said was there are a lot of unique subjects that Bollywood handles in comparison with Kollywood. Interesting point to note is most of these movies mentioned are made probably in the last 3-4 years before that "innovative story lines" were definitely missing there.... and probably this rejuvenation in bollywood cinema can also be attributed to the performance of kollywood movies like Roja and director Maniratnam ....after which hindi actresses started flocking to souther film industry. While kollywood also has produced some unique movies in recent years like - Pithamagan, Autograph,Veerumandi, Anbe Sivam, kannathil mutham ittal to name a few but the numbers are definitely decreasing ... It should be a challenge to our cine people to produce a world class movies. |

Compare and Contrast Fellas!! Even Compare Bollywood's Masalas with Kollywood's Masalas. What do u think is better?
Bollywood Masalas: Dhoom, Ek Ajnabee (remake), Family, Zinda, Main Hoon Na. Kollywood Masalas: Sivakasi, Thirupaachi, Attagasam, Aaru, Dhool, Aathi (remake), Gajini. Touching Sentiment Dramas Bolly Virudh, Veer Zahra Kolly: Autograph, Thavamai Thavamirunthu (Both only from 1 Director). Happy, Youth-Type Movies From Bollywood: Dil Chatha Hai, Salaam Namaste, Same In Kollywood: Machi, Thiruda Thirudi, Kushi (was good, also remade in Bollywood) Movies that Stress On India's History: Bhagat Singh, Rang De Basanthi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mangal Pandey. Same In Kollywood: HAVE WE EVEN HAD ANY IN THE PAST 5 YEARS? INDIAN DID A LITTLE, BUT THAT'S IT Just Plain Love Stories From Bollywood: Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Kyun Ho Gaya Na? Salaam Namaste, Parineetha etc etc. Kollywood Hmm...Thiruda Thirudi, Kushi, Kadhal Desam (Really Old, a Decade Ago) I'm havign trouble with coming up with movies that concentrate ONLY on love, without the Hero having punch dialouges when fighting with goons, from a Chennai or Madurai Gang. Someone Help Me Out Here. Fantasy: Krrish, Alag, Paheli. Us: Anniyan MAYBE, Other than that..Hmm..not so much, unless of course u consider MORBIDLY OBESE Vijayakanth flying and beating ppl up by NOT PUNCHING THE PERSON almost everytime! The Opponent flies a few feet, even though it is SO CLEAR that our Captain missed the PUNCH! Those things Bring nothing other than LAUGHTER OUT OF IRRITATION! Then there are other new attempts in Bollywood Like Lakshya, BLACK, Antarmahal, Lajja, Taxi No 9211 ( ) Subjects that we don't even touch! Hmm...I guess it's up to the individual to decide. And we wonder why more Hindi Movies win National Awards than Tamil Ones. |
