Lack of interest maybe. His role in the Hindi version itself was sappai, so i feel it was a right decision to reject the remake offer.

Moreover, his image as an actor in Hindi cinema is quite different than that in Tamil. This, along with the kind of movies being made here with leading actors give us reasons to believe his reluctance to act in multistarrers.

After the success of Paiyaa, director Lingusamy has announced his next venture. Titled Vettai, this movie will be produced and distributed by Cloud Nine movies who also distributed Paiyaa. Arya, the hero of the movie, has been paired with Tamannah this time. It was earlier announced that Madhavan will be a part of the movie. He was supposed to act in the movie as Arya's brother. The latest news is that Madhavan has backed out of the project. The reasons for his withdrawal are still unknown.
Vettai will also have Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the music and Nirav Shah wielding the camera. Anthony will take care of the editing department. Vettai will be on the floors soon and is expected to be released in Summer 2011.

Director Lingusamy is known for giving several hits in the past, particularly with Vishal (Sanda Kozhi), Madhavan (Run) and Karthi (Paiyya). He is now directing Vettai for which he had roped in Arya as the lead star.

To a question on why he chose Arya for the role, Lingusamy had said that Arya had always wanted to be a part of his project and Vettai seemed to be the right choice. The director added that he had no doubt that Arya would reach greater heights than Vishal, Madhavan and Karthi.

Vettai is being produced by Durai Dayanidhi for Cloud Nine and Yuvan Shankar Raja will score the music.

Lingusamy's next movie after Paiyya will be Vettai, which stars Arya and Tamannah in lead roles. Actor Madhavan was approached for a role in the movie which is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies. Rumours were rife that Madhavan backed out of the project though the reasons were not told. Now we have breaking news today that Maddy is indeed a part of the Vettai cast.

Madhavan, it is being told, will be playing a negative role in the movie. It will be interesting to see Maddy confronting Arya as we only know him bashing the baddies in his earlier movies. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music while Nirav Shah will be wielding the lens for Vettai.
