Karthi and Nayantara in ‘Paiya'

The shooting of the film would commence once Karthi completes ‘Ayirathil Ouvan’, which is being directed by Selvaraghavan.

Lingusamy has tentatively titled the movie ‘Paiya’ meaning ‘boy’ in English. On rumors that Nayantara has been axed from the film, Lingusamy has emphatically denied them. ‘Nayantara is very much part of the project’ he says.

Meanwhile Lingusamy’s home production Thirupathy Brothers is currently doing a couple of films including the Nadhiya starrer ‘Pattalam’.

Nayan opts out of Payya?

The recent buzz in Kollywood suggests that Nayanthara may not star in Lingusamy's Payya. The actress was reportedly paid a salary crossing over Rs. 1 crore to feature in this film opposite Karthi. Nayan, apparently, is upset over the delay in the commencement of this project. Payya was to have hit the floors a couple of months ago but was postponed for various reasons including Karthi's non-availability as he was held up in Aayirathil Oruvan.

Moreover, sources close to the actress say that the producers started negotiating over her salary after agreeing to pay Rs. 1 crore. The perturbed actress stated that it is doubtful if she would star in the venture after all.

Trisha walks over Nayan

In less than few days of Nayan having been shown the door from the Lingusamy directed Payya, Trisha bagged the project and is all set to star in the movie. It is learnt that Nayan demanded a crore for the movie and refused any negotiations whatsoever. The producers, on the other hand, were ready to shell out 75 lakhs on her pay check. This tug of war eventually ended with the producers finding a replacement for Nayan. Last heard, Trisha lapped up the project for 80 lakhs and signed in the contract papers giving away the required dates to Tirupathy pictures.

Payya is expected to kick start soon and it would be Karthi's third venture after the long-pending Selvaraghavan directed Aayirathil Oruvan.

With the audio of Selvaraghavan’s much-awaited flick Aayirathil Oruvan already topping the charts, the expectation for the film has grown. The films is eagerly awaited also because it will be Karthi Sivakumar’s second film after the award-winning Paruthiveeran. Sadly, the film’s visual effects are still under way, and it will take a while to hit the screens. But, Karthi’s fans needn’t be disappointed. His next project Paiyya, directed by Lingusamy, is complete, and will be released before Aayirathil.... It’s an action flick with Tamannaah playing his arm candy.

The film is eagerly awaited, as it is the second film for Karthi after his award winning “Paruthiveeran”. According to the sources from the industry it will take some time for the film to be completed.
