Songs in shankar and Manirathnam films have excellent choreography. All songs in 'Mudalvan' and 'alai Payuthe' stand out, in my opinion.

There is a movie on classical dance with a little boy who dances on a plate and his feet start to bleed.Anyone know which movie this was?I watched it when i was like iono 5ish?which was abt 15 years ago.Dont know if the movie was new then.I believe Kamal was in it not sure.

Yes I know but I was talking about 'best picturised' songs in general. I mean the song sequence not necessarily the dance or dance movements

Well well ! It was grandly picturized. But best choreography ? The fire swingers (silambam) were not in tandem , you can see some of the silambams 'off'. The guys swinging the 'fire' from their hair (on the sides of the tank) were absolutely wayward.The choreography was natural in the sense that you don't see Thiruvizha dancers with German engineering precision.

The song had all the Madurai-Ramnad dance types brought in. It brought out cultural aspects never shown on screen before. But I would be reluctant to award synchronization points for it even though (or perhaps because) it was by best Tamil moviemaker who ever breathed air .


What was that ? Isn't choreography about dancing (wiith our without group dancers) ?

3) Oh Mariah (Saagar Hindi)

Of late he's stopped dancing. he's become bulky. I went to PKS expecting to see some great dances from the potentially great dancing pair Kaml and Simran. My choice of most irritating choreography will be from the movie Vellai Roja. Where Prabhu and Ambika will be dancing for the song "Oh Maane Maane, Unnei Thane"... personally i think that whatever movie with Prabhu's dancing is a total disaster. Prabhu, that was why I was hesitant at first to write my whole list. I suppose I wanted to take the word 'coreograph' to mean picturisation, not limiting to dance steps, but cinematography, etc.
I like Virumaandi form the very reasons you mentioned- the lack of German precision. The dancers look like what they are- festival dancers and not film dancers. The dude with the fireworks hair is a great touch (he also had a few seconds in Dhevar Maghan. IF I SEE HIM IN ONE MORE MOVIE, I'LL START A FAN CLUB FOR HIM). It looks chaotic, unplanned, wild, frenzied!
