Default Favourite Films Post-1990
Fav films of 1990 onwards.

This save lots of waste of emotion amongst us. To list 1990 onwards, I can get rid of my NT biasness and get on with what I see as worst decade in film industry. So, we are looking at possibly first ten years of putrid filmmaking and then some kinda recovery. What say you? Are we game? Feel free to ridicule my choice, my ignorance and total dedication to my biasness towards Rajini and Kamal, ….

Fav in Alphabetical order (can think of 15 only).

1. Amaithi Padai
(Politics, satire, and the last of the best bad guys in TFI)
2. Aytha Ezhuttu
(A good remake of a trash called Puthiya Mannargal. Madhavan gives an unpredictably good performance)
3. Anbe Sivam
(Soulful, heartfelt, and perhaps the most personal film Kamal has done)
4. Baba
(Soulful, heartfelt, and perhaps the most personal film Rajini has done)
5. Duet
(ARR, Prabhu, and burden of being the eldest son)
6. Guna
(Kamal’s best performance. Haunting)
7. MMKR
(Four reason for this: Kamal, Kamal, Kamal and what’s his name, oh yes, Kamal).
8. Mahanathi
(Go figure)
9. Maman Magal
(Sheer SR/Gounder anarchy, can watch it again and again)
10. Muthu
(Pure Rajini fun. ARR stirs you like nobody’s business)
11. Mudhalvan
(Great premise, adequate acting, ARR rules again)
12. Thalapathi
(One of those special moments, when talents connect. Rajini’s last great performance…so far)
13. Thambi
(Madhavan’s eccentric performance wins me over.)
14. Thevar Magan
(NT under perfect direction. Kamal receiving mantle ala Brando/Pacino. Perfect)
15. Uzhavan
(ARR, Prabhu, and burden of being the eldest son)

Special mention
1. Iruvar: It could have been greater.
2. Periyar: Like Iruvar, could have been greater

Tempted to include:
VV, Kuruthi Punal, Virumandi, Mannan, and a few strong Sathyaraj films.
