might prove BIG THREAT TO ARR AND ILLAYARAJA

his earlier works (specifically irayil payanangalil and oru thalai raagam) had lot of IR influence and infact few songs are simple rehash of IR songs. However he also gave few surprises. During 80s if you go to any colleges, during the annual day "Vaasamilla malaridhu" was "THE" song that everybody used to sing. Infact in one of the function where IR was a chief guest, everybody was singing one or the other song from OTR and IR was little surprised and disappointed.

I wouldnt say that TR would have been a threat to IR in anyways. Out of 7 or 8 movies he composed (compared to 845+) only 3 were very popular

Others were average hit to flop.
