Cheran fell for Navya Nair
November 5, 2005 Behindwoods.com Cheran directed and acted in Thavamai Thavamirunthu. The film was to be released for deepavali but due to unforeseen circumstances it was postponed. In this film the Dolby, (sound ) mixing work will be complete only with in three or four days. Hence the film is set for release on NOV 11th. Currently Cheran is the hero in Aadhum Koothu . The pooja for this film is held recently at Prasad studio in Ilayaraja's recording theatre. The heroine of this movie is Navya Nair. Cheran had seen the acting of Navya Nair in Thankar Bachan’s film Chidambarathil Oru Apaswamy and was fascinated by her act and chosen her to pair in Aadhum Koothu. Cheran’s Pookism is the next project he is to venture out |

Thavamai thavamirundhu will create cinema history
November 9, 2005 Behindwoods.com Cheran is giving the finishing touches to his next film, Thavamai thavamirundhu. The film will also mark a special achievement in Indian cinema by being the third longest movie ever made. It will run for 3 hours and 40 minutes. Mera Naam Joker, made by the legendary Raj Kapoor holds the first position as the longest movie in Indian film history. It is followed by the Aamir Khan film, Lagaan. The cute film on an intrepid band of villagers who take on the might of the British empire, was India’s entry to the Oscars that year. It reached the final but lost out. |

Thavamai Thavamirundu to hit screens this 18th
tamil.galatta.com After Autograph, Cheran has come out after a long time with another production of his titled Thavamai Thavamirundu. It was expected to come out during Deepavali but due to various reasons it couldn’t come out. This movie is expected to run for over two and half hours with two intervals. Cheran is sure that this film will satisfy the audience. |

IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, November 09, 2005] Cheran's Thavamai Thavamirundu is finally expected to hit the theatres on 18 November. Initially it was slated for a Deepavali release, however due to various reasons it backed out at the last moment. In fact, the director-actor Cheran has apologized to his fans, well-wishers and trade for not being able to release Thavamai Thavamirundu for Diwali by issuing ads in newspapers. Reports say that the movie runs for over two and a half hours and Cheran is planning two intervals for the movie. He says, 'I am confident that Thavamai Thavamirundu will be a treat for my audience and I will not let them down’. With the focus from Deepavali releases shifting, Thavamai Thavamirundu may be coming into the picture at the right time. |

whoever is the cast, the film has cheran's stamp over it. it sure gonna rock. cheran is one great director. he is one of the last mohicans in the already doomed tinsel world. so everyone should encourage him. they are the last of their species. bala ,thankar and cheran.

already nilavu, he need not be versatile . as longs as he churns out decent films i will continue to support him. rachel, i expected such a reply from you. as far as i can see all his films were better than any of ajith's films. probably the environment in which you live doesn't let you appreciate his films. but i am from the country side. so i am able to relate to his films . way to go cheran.

'Thavamai Thavamirundhu' - some tidbits
- 05.11.2005 Cinesouth.com Those who have seen it are full of praise. Those who have not seen it are dying to see it.Cheran is however, waiting patiently for the Sivakasi fireworks and uproarious Majaa to die down. Once he had made his decision to make the film, Cheran did something no one else has done. He narrated the film scene by scene to his assistants, the cameraman and his assistants. For one month, the scenes were discussed till everyone identified with the film. "After discussing together, we deleted the unwanted portions and added the necessary elements. That's how the final script evolved." The patient Cheran is impressed by Raj Kiran. "I said he has to be with me for 3 months. He stayed on for 10 months till the film was over. The character of Muthiah, the father of Ramalingam (Cheran's name in the film), portrayed by him is something that every father can identify with." Like 'Autograph,' 'Thavamai Thavamirundhu' is in the classical mould. It spans a number of years. "As time lapses, the characters also look different. The heroine Padmapriya also looks different as time goes by," says Cheran who feels that Raj Kiran's character is the central focus of the film. Since the decision was made to shoot the film in digital technique, they had to make themselves familiar with the latest in digital technology and joined classes in Digital Updating. "We shot several times to understand the digital output. Every time we were not satisfied, we tried several times till we were finally convinced, before we started shooting for the actual film. This pre-shooting cost alone ran to about 25 lakhs." After so much hard work, Cheran does not cling to the film as exclusively his work. "This is a joint effort. 210 eyes, 210 legs, 210 hands worked to make this film happen." Those with big hearts will definitely create big works of art. Cheran's plus point is his large heart! |
