Default How can AussieTycoon Improve?
Hi Everyone,

I just want to gain some feedback from you all on what you think of the AussieTycoon forums and if you have any suggestions in how we could improve the way we do things and improve how you interact with each other?

This is the thread where we get some feedback from our valued members on how we can do things better and improve this for you!

Some questions to get the ball rolling...
- Are you currently getting what you expected out of the forum? i,e; good advice, networking opportunities, business ideas?
- Do you find it easy to interact with others?
- Do you think the forum is the right sort of technology for what we are trying to do? Can you suggest a different technology?
- Is the site easy to use?
- What would make you come and post more often?

Hopefully that should get you started, we really want to make this a great place where entrepreneurs and small business owners can network, harness ideas, and give advice to people looking to change their lives, so any feedback is valuable.

Thanks,

Brendan
The AT Team.

What about some sort of blog or article section where you release news on whats happening in the entrepreneurship market in Australia?

Have you thought about integrating your logins with facebook using Facebook connect?

A few things I think can improve the forum include:
  • Upgrade to vBulletin.
  • More users.
  • Connected website with articles and other features (classifieds?)
That's all I can think of at the moment.

In addition to more people, I thing greater variety of people (and therefore ideas) is also useful.

I think that's what they are trying to attract!

Any ideas on how we can get a greater variety of people?

I think it would be great to get on some high profile guest speakers to provide us all with some inspiration. More users would be good to, so I will spreed the word for you on my twitter account.

Other then that I think this forum is great and has a lot of room to grow for the better

Hrm, interesting suggestion, what would you discuss there do you think?

Would it not be a bit more relevant if we had something like a tag cloud that you could use to find out what people are talking about?

I'm pretty new here Brendan, but it seems good so far. Just keep out the spammers, keep attracting new and diverse members and the site should go from strength to strength.

A free Australian business directory - not part of the forum, a separate thing.

There's plenty of them out there but more never hurts.

Have you also checked out one of this months free advertisers on the side -->

One of our members ABD runs an online business directory.

Though I think this site is great for people starting out or maybe struggling I would like a section for people like myself who though still a small business is doing quite well and expanding. I would like a forum for established companies that need help to take the next step ( not just the first step) who can interact with similar companies in a more practical way ie sales staff sharing, storage sharing, combined marketing material, etc

Obviously you dont want to be flooded with spam and get rich quick schemes but there genuine companies like us looking

remove this restriction:

To be able to post links or images your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 2 posts.

That's a terrible restriction to remove - I'd recommend AGAINST that as it is very sensible.

I have other forums, until we put a restriction like this in place people would sign up, first post would be full on porn pictures and links to some really nasty stuff. Same with letting people PM before they have posts. Spammers send that crap to everyone on the member's list.

I agree with HWT. This restriction has just come in to play to prevent spam and to sort out those who are here to contribute to the community vs those who are out to link build and spam. It's a real pain to have to trawl through posts to find the genuine ones.

I think such restriction is more reasonable:

* On all other boards, for the first five days you can only reply to threads.

* After 5 days if you get to 25 posts, you are granted the ability to start new threads.

With any restrictions of this type there will always be people who just spam their way through 5, 10, 25 or however many posts are required, but the idea is to stop those who just come here and post their spam once or twice.

For those who do try to spam their way though, we will be vigilant in deleting anything that is clearly spam and adds no value to the community.

I think the restrictions are good - although some people do want to just drop into forums to get some quick advise. Domains can be spelt out to get around this restriction so it shouldn't matter if that is the case. 5 posts isn't much anyway - just make sure you contribute.
