He did nothing wrong, don't be stupid.
Maldonado took himself out of second position and it was entirely his own doing.

Don't kid yourself.

I'm going to give the best team of the race award to Mercedes for not screwing Schumi's race for a change.

And also for driving back too fast with a shredded tyre, dismantling his car all round the track and causing the safety car to be deployed.
I agree, but somehow when Gilles Villeneuve does that he's lauded as a never-give-up hero.

Agreed, but with the caveat that he was only off the track because Lewis didn't give him the required car width going into the corner. He must shoulder part of the blame for that, but Pastor was definitely in the wrong.
Dave, he didn't have to give him room. Pastor couldn't make the pass so should have given room. Bet he would have done if it was a wall there but he kept his foot in and went off track. Look at it again.

I don't think we should discount Schumacher as driver of the race either. He came from 12th to 3rd. Superb race.

Schumacher and Alonso are drivers of the race for me.

Driver: Alonso, Grosjean

Donkey: Hamilton. He should have yielded. Racing aggressively with shot tyres is pointless.

C*** of the day: Maldonado and Vergne.

many donkeys

1. Mclaren Pit Crew - pretty much costing Hamilton the win, without the incident, he would have been clearly ahead of alonso and kimi ( who would have battled it out)
2. Hamilton for not yielding and going for the points, he needed those more than a podium
3. Maldonado for being maldonado
4. Vergne - nuff said
5. Kobayashi, too many little incidents

DOTR

1. "gasp" Alonso
2. Grosjean who would have taken Alonso if the car did not break down
3. Nobody else

Second position? What the hell are you on about?

He had the racing line, he wasn't required to give him any room.
Remember one of the incidents between Massa and Hamilton last year where Massa had the racing line, turned in and Hamilton was just behind him and they collided? Well, who got the penalty then?

You don't give drivers room to overtake. He had the line in the corner but Pastor didn't yield but went off track instead to try and keep a position he hadn't earned. Disgusting
Well, that is racing. Hamilton should have not tried to go wheel to wheel with someone who has nothing to lose, when he has so much to lose and NOTHING at all to gain.

You do have to leave room, it was clarified for 2012. My bold:

20.3 More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off‐line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner. Lewis didn't give Pastor room, and forced all four wheels over the white line marking the edge of the track. What Maldonado did next was bone-headed and dangerous, but he should never have been put in that position in the first place.

Maldonado was most likely going to pass Hamilton** and was closing on Raikkonen.

That was on lap 55 of 57.

**...but chose to drive into the side of him from off the track anyway.

He was quite a few seconds off Kimi, he was never going to catch him. The only reason why had closed on Kimi was because Hamilton had slowed Kimi. So you are wrong, wrong and once again, wrong.

Two different circumstances and different times.

IIRC GV's rear wheel was barely hanging whereas today when the shredded tyre damages bodywork carbon fibre breaks up like glass.

Dave, you're wrong.

Lewis defended coming into the previous corner and took the apex. He was on the racing line for this corner. Look at it again before it's pulled.

F1 Valencia 2012 Pastor Maldonando and Lewis Hamilton Collision / Crash - YouTube

He ha the line but Pastor came up from a position that was impossible to overtake from unless you go off track.

5 place grid penalty. Joke

You won an argument over a very minor point on the internet, congratulations.

Meantime, Williams probably just lost a few million in FOM money at season's end. Not to mention McLaren.

Given his history Pastor either needs a WDC and WCC points deduction, probation period/suspended sentence or even a race ban.

I mentioned a few weeks back that Maldonado was a typical South American driver i.e stupid.

He would make a great bus driver or taxi driver here in Colombia, not enough idiot drivers here!!!
