If you say "I bought a reliable car, it's a Ford." People kind of look at you like, "are you serious?" Nope, no one's ever looked at me like that.

I've got a Blazer. My dad drove it to work every week day for about three years. Now I'm driving it to school four days a week. Neither me or my dad have had any problems with it, just regular repair work (bearings just went out on the front.) We got it with 7K miles (I think) and it now has close to 80K. Still drives like the day we got it.

Oh, the occassional domestic may be reliable, but it's so inconsistent.

And it seems every domestic owner has "a" story about the one that made it. When every import guy can list 20:1 stories against it, of cars in THEIR city.

Consistency for reliability, name a domestic product that has consistent reliability. Here are some imports :

Honda Civic
Toyota Corolla
Toyota Camry
Nissan Sentra

Just got my Ford inspected yesterday. It needed no repairs to pass inspection successfully.

But I don't dispute that Hondas and Toyotas are dependable cars. I've heard they were very reliable.

Ford, Chrysler and GM's contributions after 9/11

'CNN Headline News did a short news listing regarding Ford and GM's contributions
to the relief and recovery efforts in New York and Washington.

The findings are as follows.....

1. Ford- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions of the
same number plus 10 Excursions to NY Fire Dept. The company also offered ER
response team services and office space to displaced government employees.

2. GM- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions
of the same number and a fleet of vans, suv's, and trucks.

3. Daimler Chrysler- $10 million to support of the children and victims
of the Sept. 11 attack.

4. Harley Davidson motorcycles- $1 million and 30 new motorcycles to the
New York Police Dept.

5. Volkswagen-Employees and management created a Sept 11 Foundation,
funded initial with $2 million, for the assistance of the children and victims of the WTC.

6. Hyundai- $300,000 to the American Red Cross.

7. Audi-Nothing.

8. BMW-Nothing.

9. Daewoo- Nothing.

10. Fiat-Nothing.

11. Honda- Nothing despite boasting of second best sales month ever in August 2001

12. Isuzu- No thing.

13. Mitsubishi-Nothing.

14. Nissan-Nothing.

15. Porsche-Nothing. Press release with condolences via the Porsche website.

16. Subaru- Nothing.

17. Suzuki- Nothing.

18. Toyota-Nothing despite claims of high sales in July and August 2001.

Apart from Hyundai and Volkswagen, the foreign car companies contributed
nothing at all to the citizens of the United States ...

It's OK for these companies to take money out of this country, but it is
apparently not acceptable to return some in a time of crisis. I believe
we should not forget things like this. Say thank you in a way that gets
their attention..

It's like the licence plate covers that say something, "buy domestic".

Just stop making shitty vehicles and we'll buy them, and to the person that comes in here and says they aren't shitty, 99.9% of Canadians and Americans would rather buy a domestic product than a foreign one, but we're buying foreign's for some reason.

Besides why should a company have to give there money to something. Microsoft makes fuck loads, and so does Wal Mart, so...............

what did the american company's donate to the london tube bombings fund?.......and many employees of those foreign companies did donate......i was building cars at the time and i donated

all of those 'foreign companies you mention base they're sales plan on selling a quility product for the price........and to be honest apart from the harley i'd go for the beemer or audi any day

I buy VW...I like my European cars any day over an American shitmobile.

they aren't offered around here... a lot of good makers aren't allowed on our market yet...we even have a Canadian maker who sells in the US but isn't allowed to in Canada yet...terrible how things work over here sometimes.

yeah was looking at it as I didn't know the brand. Lovely rally cars eh... I think my son and husband would have known what you were talking about. I got a good deal on a new VW jetta this week only 18,000kms on it...someone traded it in for a Touareg... we'll be picking it up for 18,000 tax included and snow tires...great deal that. Has the whole package too...heated seat power everything... leather...diesel... HAS to be diesel or we won't buy it.
