I wanted to get a second opinion on this before I actually go out and buy it. Originally, I though I was needing a new front bumper, due to the fact that it droops down now from my first accident(I rear-ended somebody, if that helps understand what's going on). But the more I've thought about it tonight, I realized that when my friend and I fixed it on our own, we had to first beat the shit out of(With a hammer) some metal part that the bumper bolted into on the frame. Once we did that, the bumper kind of straightened out and didn't droop down as much. So tonight, I went on eBay, and as I was looking for a new tail light lens(Don't ask), I came across something called a front bumper mounting bracket. It looks just like what we had to hammer to straighten out the bumper. I just got done looking under the car, and that piece looks a tad bit bent, but the catch is that it's welded onto the frame.
The question I'm asking is this: Is this the part I need to get in order to get my bumper looking normal again? I wanna find out first, so I don't waste the time and money buying a bracket and trying to get the old brackets off, then welding the new ones on, if it's not the right part. If it helps, I'll try to get some pictures of my bumper and the brackets up in the next few days. |

What's the make and model of the car?
I'm not an expert, but it could be the bumper mount bracket is bent and a new one will fix the problem. It could also be the bumper itself is bent (either the bumper or the mount on the bumper) It all depends on the vehicle and how the bumper is attached. You could replace the mount bracket(s) and if the bumper is bent, it might still droop. And if you have to mess with welding . . . maybe more trouble than it's worth. |

Well it's a 2001 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. Other than being cracked in some places, I don't think the bumper is bent. The mounting brackets are cheap as hell online, so I'm thinking of buying them. And that way, at least if I buy them and it's not the problem, hell, I got new brackets outta the deal.
