Well my brother texted me bragging about being at Silverstone for the 3rd year in a row on Police duty but having watched the practice I am perfectly happy watching it from the comfort of my warm lounge.

Uh oh, looks like 2000 all over again. Anyone with tickets for qualifying is being told not to turn up tomorrow due to the rain.

UPDATE: We are dissuading fans from coming to the event tomorrow if you have a public car pass, those with P&R & are camping will be fine Twitter / SilverstoneUK: UPDATE: We are dissuading

Just saw this mentioned on BBC's One Show.... I would not be happy if I had a ticket and was driving from Banbury!

My brother was planning to leave at 1am to travel down overnight to be in time for qualy, I've just told him the news.. he's obviously not happy but says he'll just 'park & ride' if he has to.

It's a real shame, we went to qualifying last year and the setup was great, we were in and out of the car parks in no time. I suppose this is what happens when 80,000 people turn up for the practice day - how many circuits can't even get that on a Sunday??

I doubt Bernie will see it that way though, he won't be happy until there's tarmac for 20 miles in each direction and a roof over the whole circuit

If the British GP is to be run at this time each year, then a roof over the whole circuit might be a good idea...

My brother reckons what the BBC and other media sources are reporting is very different to what is actually happening at the circuit. He said people have been turning up and apart from the mud, its fine. Nobody is being turned away at present.

The BBC certainly know how to make an intro to get people in the mood for a GP, excellent.

The busiest start to Q1 I've seen for a while as the heavens threaten to open.

Jenson's radio: "these conditions are going to get worse, we need to nail these first laps".

Kimi's KERS is broken, everybody's slipping and sliding, it's going to be... interesting!

Button out in only Q1!!!!!?????? WTF

The Silverstone curse is still very much on Jenson's back, but the car is capable of alot more than that. A very poor performance.

Poor Jenson, the season started so well for him, but now it is embarassing to watch him.

If I was Martin Whitmarsh, I'd be asking some very stern questions to that side of the garage. Not good enough by all involved IMO.

With only 3 sets of full wets for the whole weekend, and most having put 15+laps on one of them yesterday, going out in Q1 could turn out to be a strategic masterstroke if full wets are needed for the race

Looking at the latest forecast, the race tomorrow might just escape the worst of the rain though.
