Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Ingles will feature night stages when it hosts the second round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in April.

The event, which is based on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, will take place from 14-16 April. To accommodate the night-time runs, organisers have made several changes to the event itinerary with day one's action getting underway on Friday at 13:00hrs local time and not finishing until the early hours of Saturday morning on April 16.

Crews and their teams will then get a short rest before the rally continues at 07:30hrs on Saturday. The finish is scheduled for 14:30hrs later that day.

In total the rally will feature 12 special stages with a competitive distance of 190.59 kilometres.

The bulk of the stages on Friday 15 April will focus on the south of the island initially before crews head to the north of the island for the two night stages, Valleseco and Tejeda, which start at 22:16hrs and 22:49hrs respectively.

Saturday's stages are the same as those used on Friday night, albeit run in the reverse direction.

At this time, and are officially registered very important teams and drivers, Skoda Motorsport, who returns with Kopecky and most importantly with the pilot who carried out the World Rally Championship with Czech brand itself, Juha Hanninen. Skoda UK to the Norwegian driver Andreas Mikkelsen. Skoda Belgium Freddy Loix. Kronos Team with Guy Wilks and Thierry Neuville. And with Bruno Magalhaes Peugeot Portugal.
But that is not the thing, along with foreign teams and drivers have been in contact with the organization but have not yet formalized its entry, the list keeps growing. As the PH Sport team, representing Peugeot France, with the current leader of the IRC and Monte Carlo Rally winner, Bryan Bouffier. O Proton Motorsport team, with the Swedish driver PG Andersson and another rider to be named. The Finnish driver Toni Gardemeister, who still has not decided to which car will come to the Canaries. And several Italian riders, as Riccardo Scandola (Ford Fiesta Super 2000) and Massimiliano Settembrini (Peugeot 207 Super 2000)

We can not forget the representation will come from mainland Spain, as the team of Ford Spain, with its driver Xevi Pons, current world champion in the category of SWRC. I am just really interested only in the S2000 drivers. So, with that in mind do we know any more about the S2000 drivers in bold except for Sembertini? I know what he's doing.

12.- Sergio Vallejo - GT or S2000
13.- Xevi Pons - Fiesta S2000
18.- Jonathan Pérez - 207 S2000 These guys are doing only Spanish championship this year if You ask for that. Otherwise Pons is world champion of SWRC 2010 and well known name from past WRC seasons, Hevia is Spanish champion 2004 and 2010, Vallejo is Spanish champion 2009.

16.- Umberto Scandola - Fiesta S2000 Scandola is doing limited IRC program of some five events I think. He is former Abarth test driver who drove several IRC events in previous seasons. Always quite fast but very accident prone.

Gran Canaria is an island with its own microclimate. It is not unusual to spend half an hour in a dense fog in the central mountains to 30 degrees Celsius in the southern beaches of the island.
Contrary to popular belief, although it is usually an island of sunshine and beaches, from December to May is not unusual to do a little cold in the center-north.
The rally has been run many times under heavy rain (never on snow).
