Thanks Menju!!
I like it. Alot. Does remind me a lot of 90's club music, but thats not necessarily bad. And the opening does remind of Never Ending Story!!! The video: GaGa riding Falkor to save the princess, who is her also, and everyone in Fantasia doing some amazing choreography. idk, I took a lot of ADHD pills this morning.... I was hoping for a few more.... surprises(??) with this. I think I need a few more listens, and HQ. It does sound a bit dated (possibly cause of the quality? sounds a bit mashed here). I don't mind if she does a throw back to 90's, but doesn't have to sound dated. I love the opening, and the chorus is pretty catchy, but towards the end... not feeling that part. Alos, Im just kindasomewhat worried that this album is going to sound all over the place. I like diversity, but so far the only songs that sound like they came from the same album are EoG and Hair (and maybe You and I with them). I think she maybe had toooooo many ideas going on while making this album, and lost a sense of cohesion. Or something. IDK! I cant wait to hear Americano though!! I hope it didnt get shat-on on the album version. |

Oh yes, totally digging this one. Hearkens back to the sort of 90s music I grew up with, & definitely has a slightly more club-hardy, darker edge to it. The thing for me is that I just cannot stand big, anthemic power ballads - which is more or less what BTW, EOG, and Hair all work as. Part of it's that I just don't care for uplifting, jubilant music in that vein; the other side of this haterade-coin, though, is that I do wonder to what extent Gaga's doing these "anthems" because of her whole Mother Monster, Full of Grace, schtick. It's not that I don't believe she cares about all the freaks & geeks, but that I have no interest in group therapy.
Anyway, yeah, Marry the Night - this I like. I have a feeling this album's going to be a real mixed bag for me, but I'm still absolutely salivating to finally hear the studio v. of Gov't Hooker. |
