The acoustic versions sound especially gorgeous. I am so excited for this album, randomly.

I've been a casual fan of hers over the years, and this is just amazing! I think she's had hints of a more serious musical side in earlier work, but I didn't know it would ever actually make it out.

Yayyy new Vanessa! I like the new single, although it's not markedly different from her previous stuff.

That live version with Stevie is BEAUTIFUL. Much better than the single mix, if you ask me.

It's pretty, very similar to Bat For Lashes.

I find her to be very attractive, especially in the official music video.. however, there are a few parts of the video that feel very "visualette" .. just walking around aimlessly in a stylish way. hrmm.

However, the song is quite lovely in that carefree way that singer/songwriters of her level (Michelle Branch, Dashboard Confessional, etc.) are good at.. you know.. those songwriters that got a bit of airplay for a period, but now have been pushed into the indie stratosphere.
I like the line "Love comes back around again; it's a carousel, my friend."

Clips of the full album - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ild=B00535SIT2

I think this actually sounds gorgeous. A very Joni Mitchell quality to it, and the analog production works great with her voice.

Pushed back to July 26 (boo) but promo copies have been sent out....

I don't know, why, but, that song has *something* that reminds me of Time After Time

The artwork is so cool. I am glad they didn't just use some rabbit clip art. Very stylish.

I really love the soundcloud files. That version of "I don't want to be a bride".. all the live versions, I couldn't hear every lyric. It is really a great lyric piece. I think it is far superior than Carousel in that way.

Wow, I never thought I would live in a world where Vanessa Carlton would be making better albums than Tori.

Only thing I don't like? The first single! Carousel is just bad cheese. "I don't want to be a bride" and "London' are seriously stunning though.

"I don't want to be a bride" is seriously phenominal.
"Apologies to your mother."

It's definitely lower than I had anticipated, but at the same time, it does make a lot of sense.

A hiatus in the pop world does NO one good. And while Heroes and Thieves was adored by her fan base, the major news stories kept popping up that she wasn't selling anything and the woes with the label-- and eventually being dropped. That's NEVER good for album sales, unless they're a cult figure and thus rally the base to buy the next record.

I think this album will speak for itself, though. I think that Vanessa is going to have to do a lot more touring behind it, though. It's not enough to just do all the press circuits. She's going to have to hit the ground hard behind this record, and so far it seems like she's more than willing to do that.

Peter,
I read your Glide Magazine review. You are a beautiful/smart writer. I wish I had that talent. Kudos to you
Oh, and I agree with all you said in the review.

I was trying to remember, and I couldn't find it on google, but didn't Vanessa hold some sort of record on MTV's TRL with "A 1000 Miles?"

Matt & Vanessa come here October 15th, just not sure I can swing it.

Almost more than seeing this album live, I'd love to own it on vinyl. Her site is sold out, but I hear they're selling it at the shows! Is anyone going to a future show that'd be willing to pick one up for me? I'd kiss your feet forever.

*edit* SHIT it's the last show of the tour. Of course. Well...we'll see. If anyone else sees somewhere selling the vinyl, let me know
