What a gorgeous song and video to accompany it. Emotive with no artifice. Pure and sweet.

Default Martha Wainwright
What an artist.

New album out October 15 called Come Home to Mama.

Cover:

Tracklist:

I Am Sorry
Can You Believe It
Radio Star
Proserpina
Leave Behind
Four Black Sheep
Some People
I Wanna Make an Arrest
All Your Clothes
Everything Wrong

Her debut is still one of my favorites, and I adored I Know You're Married But I Have Feelings Too if not for the title alone. Anxious to hear what this sounds like based on...that cover.

Proserpina is a gorgeous song...the last one her mother ever wrote. The title is lifted from that track as well.

She puts on a great live show too. I love her voice, I think it's quite unique. Unique voices definitely run in the family. I love that album cover, can't wait to hear some tracks!

Excited for the album, but that is one horrible cover. The font makes it all so much worse too.

That cover has a real vintage vibe. I wonder if that will translate to the sound of the album. Then again, I always think of vintage folk when I think of Martha.

As I've grown up with the McGarrigles and Wainwrights I can't help but follow Martha's career and buy her records as I do with the rest of the clan. I liked the debut, but I Know You're Married left me cold. So this one will definitely be a try-before-you-buy album. Really hoping it's a good effort this time.

I loved her Mom's live version and I love this version as well. The video is simple but effective.

Wow, that was truly stunning. Perfect amount of drama, tension, and warmth. The mythology makes for gorgeous imagery, too. Loved it.

Wow. I don't know her music very well, but this got me to pre-order the new album. I've got her self-titled album buried in my iTunes.

Which album do you all like best so far?

ETA:
She has a kickstarter-type thing going on to raise money for a US tour!

Well, that was pretty much insanely beautiful. I am so excited for this record.

To answer the above question, her self-titled is my favorite, but I like all three records. I go back to the Piaf Record the least, but it is excellent for what it is. I saw that show, and I have to say something feels incomplete about just listening to a recording from one of those shows. She's such an impressive, expressive live performer, and she really brought those songs to life.
