Just downloaded Union and I am loving it so far. Her sound is so unique and wonderful. There are moments that really remind me of Kate Bush, yet she definitely does her own thing. The album is solid all the way through, but Liberty, I Call This Home, This Ain't No Hymn, and Dreamtime are my favorites at the moment. Definite candidate for AOTY for me.

^LOL! Adam, I don't really hear Celine at all, but I do hear Karen Carpenter at times, like on Tightrope especially. I can see a little Adele and Beth Ditto at times, though. I don't think she sounds exactly like Kate, or anyone else for that matter, but there are definitely Kate moments for me here. Becky is unique, though, so I probably shouldn't really try to compare her. I've been playing this album a lot, much more than the new Fiona, which is also great, but hasn't grabbed me as much yet, for some reason.

![]() stream Union here: http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/a...----union.html Becky Jones already has already made a name for herself in the United Kingdom under the title of Saint Saviour. With two EPs already garnering a generous amount of praise, her debut album Union is widely anticipated. Jones has a voice that’s enthralling in its beauty and complex in its range. The 13-track album is a treat for anyone looking for incredible vocals with a steady rhythm to match. On the album’s single, “I Call This Home,” Jones’ vocals soar through soft guitars and continuous drums. According to Jones, the song is about the “complicated relationship you have with your roots and when you try to escape them.” Saint Saviour’s debut album comes out on July 24, but you can listen to the entire album in the streaming player below all this week. |
