Neko Case has been pretty much a daily listen for the last year, after Middle Cyclone came out and it quickly became my favorite album not only of the year, but maybe of the decade. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next. She's got this crazy voice, which is the most obvious part, but her songwriting is astounding--as good as any of the best lyricists I can think of (Joanna Newsom, early REM, mid-nineties Tori, Kristen Hersh, Joni Mithcell, Dylan...). It kind of pisses me off that she gets to be so talented. Anyways, I haven't gotten to see her live yet, and I'm not living out of the US and am not sure when she'll come to Israel, but I hope to get to see her soon!

Neko is THE best female singer-songwriter to emerge since Tori, IMO. Fox Confessor and Middle Cyclone are flawless albums and in my top ten of all time. Seeing her live was a spiritual experience for me. One New Pornographer's track I would check out is Letter From An Occupant. She sounds amazing and it's such a fun song. Actually, that song was on a CMJ cd and was only the second time I'd heard her ( I had heard a track from Furnace Room Lullaby) and it made me rush out to learn more about her. So very glad that I did.

Maybe my favourite album of 2009.

Took me three or four listens and then I fell in love. The lyrics are extraordinary. I obsessed over it for about two months so I'm taking a little break, but it's a fantastic record. Hopefully I'll get to see her live at some point.

I adore Neko Case! I've seen her live twice. Here's a picture I took of her at London's Barbican Theatre.

Did anyone watch the cartoon on Adult Swim where Neko voiced a Britney Spears like character with T-Pain of all people? It was so random and strange. I love her for doing it.

"Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge". In it, Neko Case provides the speaking voice (but not the singing voice) of the title character, who happens to be a Britney-style, coke-snorting, thong-wearing pop star. Meanwhile, T-Pain makes a cameo as a big-boned gingerbread man. Perhaps this virtual collaboration will cause Neko to soften on her anti-Auto-Tune stance? Time will tell."

I attended one Neko show after having only listened to her for a couple of weeks. She was playing across from my word, so I ventured by myself. Her roar is so much bigger live and it gave me goosebumps though I wasn't familiar with many songs. The first one that hooked me was Vengeance Is Sleeping and has always been a favorite - though I think Deep Red Bells may be my #1.

I definitely think she is in the top 10 (or maybe even 5) singers/songwriters of this generation. Her voice literally gives me goosebumps. "Furnace Room Lullaby" and especially the last note she hits in that song is the perfect example of why she should loved by everyone.

Middle Cyclone was THE album of 2009 for me.
The first half of that year, no other album made it into my CD player.
That's why I now got the Clear Vinyl LP and it is SO damn beautiful, I want to put it on a shelf.
I have yet to get the blacklisted CD.

I saw The New Pornos a few weeks ago. It was an excellent gig although Neko wasn't with them. I love their albums.

that's a shame. She actually IS with them this tour, which she usually isn't. I've seen a few shows this tour and they sound really tight.

I love Neko!! She's one of my favorite vocalists. Her voice is so clear and consistent. And her songs are moody, smart, and spacious...

The song Challengers is a Neko track that is very haunting and beautiful. And a nice music video as well:

I love Neko. I thought her Adult Swim show was amazing. I haven't had the opportunity to see her on tour yet but Middle Cyclone is one of my very favorite albums.

Does Neko have a new song out on some compilation? I was at Starbucks and heard her voice on the overhead, but it wasn't any song I knew. Didn't sound like New Pornographers material, either.

Was it the song "Silverado'? Sarah Harmer and Neko sing that song on Sarah's new CD called Oh Little Fire.
