I bought Furnace Room Lullaby recently and absolutely love it - much more country than her later albums, particularly MC. This may become my favourite Neko album I think.

I'm moving from Chicago to Orlando this weekend and today I went from Chicago to Chattanooga today. On I-24 between Nashville and Chattanooga I spotted a big sign on the side of the road that was an ad for Middle Cyclone with the release date on it. Totally random but it was a cool surprise for me today.

Apparently The New Pornographers were uninvited to perform at Calvin College. Here is the school's official statement:

We believe that the decision to invite the band fit our rubric of engaging culture through a Christian lens. The band makes good, thoughtful music, and we invited them here based on their artistic merit. However, after weeks of discussion and consideration, the irony of the band's name was impossible to explain to many. The band's name, to some, is mistakenly associated with pornography. Consequently, Calvin, to some, was mistakenly associated with pornography. Neither the college nor the band endorses pornography. Oh dear.

Oh jeez. I hope they don't have the Barenaked Ladies lined up for any future visits.

^ lol.

I went to see Fran Healy (of Travis) in a solo show in London last night. He has a duet with Neko on his new album!

So, are we expecting a new album this year?
Are we? Please say yes!

I still play Middle Cyclon like there's not tomorrow.

Middle Cyclone still feels so fresh, but it really was released 2 years ago, no? I'd LOVE a new album this year.

I'm seeing her in February. I noticed there's only a few dates scheduled. I'm wondering if there's a reason for the shows, like the brief tour to preview Middle Cyclone before its release.

God, I can't believe it's been almost two years. It really doesn't seem that long ago.

^ No it doesn't. And I still love the album to pieces. I listen to it way more than Fox Confessor.

Fox Confessor is probably my favourite but it's a close run thing.
