MADONNA = PHYSICAL ATTRACTION
LIKE A VIRGIN = LOVE DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE TRUE BLUE = WHITE HEAT LIKE A PRAYER = SPANISH EYES EROTICA = WAITING BEDTIME STORIES = I'D RATHER BE YOUR LOVER RAY OF LIGHT = SKIN MUSIC = IMPRESSIVE INSTANT AMERICAN LIFE = I don't know. The promotion was so fucked up that it wouldn't make any difference. But I would have loved to have Nobody Knows Me released as a proper single and with a proper video. CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR = None. HARD CANDY = None. |

I actually change mine a bit after I saw yours. I think you're right, Love Don't Live Here Anymore and Spanish Eyes is actually what I would like to choose.
You're also right about the American Life album. The artwork and first single / video we're not really a good representation of the actual album. I think promo got fucked up after Hollywood tanked. The Remixed and Revisited EP was a bit weird, except, I actually kind of like Your Honesty ![]() |

MADONNA - Think of Me
LIKE A VIRGIN - Love Don't Live Here Anymore (it could have helped changed how people perceived her as an artist, especially since it was early in her career) TRUE BLUE - White Heat LIKE A PRAYER - Till Death Do Us Part EROTICA - Thief of Hearts BEDTIME STORIES - Forbidden Love RAY OF LIGHT - Swim MUSIC - Impressive Instant AMERICAN LIFE - Mother and Father CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR - Isaac HARD CANDY - ugh... just make Miles Away a better single. It didn't get the attention it should have. |

Great thread.
I'm mixing mine up between songs that would have been great to release because they might have been hits, and songs that are just generally awesome. Madonna--Nothing that seems like single material to me Like a Virgin--Over and Over (not officially a single, but I think it could have made a good one) True Blue--None. Ugh. Everything that wasn't a single on this album was AWFUL. Like a Prayer--Til Death Do Us Part. This would be a selfish choice though, since I like it so much. It wouldn't have charted well. I'm Breathless--Sooner or Later Erotica--Waiting Bedtime Stories--I think "Survival" would have been a hit, and I like the song. "Forbidden Love," too, but I'll go with "Survival." Ray of Light--To Have and Not to Hold. I love this song and think it would have charted respectably. Music--Impressive Instant! Duh! American Life--Intervention. Call me weird, but not only would I have this as a single ... I'd have released it as the first single. COAD--Forbidden Love Hard Candy--Beat Goes On. Totally would have been a hit--a missed opportunity. |

True Blue - Where's The Party
The only choice really. Maybe White Heat (I don't hate it at all, in fact it's the only album track I don't find mediocre-awful). But WTP would have done well on the charts. Like A Prayer - Pray for Spanish Eyes Though I think Keep It Together was pushing the single releases anyway, not a great radio choice. Thought it did decently in the chats did it not? Erotica - Waiting My favourite on the album! And I think the only other possibly single choice. Ugh would've loved an Erotica-era video for this... Bedtime Stories - Forbidden Love Survival is upbeat and the most obvious choice maybe but I'd love for another of her ballads to have been released. Ray Of Light - Little Star Not my fave at all, but I see this being a single above some of the more challening cuts on the album. I don't think Sky Fits Heaven or Swim are radio-friendly enough. Music - Gone Again Impressive Instant sticks out, but I would've loved if one of her 'guitar' songs were released. And this is a nice one. American Life - Nothing Fails Yeah it was a single, but it wasn't *really*. It was released to clubs in remix form or something. I LOVE this, and I imagine with an epic (but down to earth, kinda normal looking M, like Music era) video, choir and all, would've been brilliant. Lovely song. Confessions - Let It Will Be Or Forbidden Love, but this is kinda catchy. Hard Candy - Beat Goes On I was tempted to say Devil to show a slightly different side to the album but I think BGO is the more obvious choice. |
