Default Christina Aguilera
Xtina!

Either people can't stand her voice, or they make a competition show using her voice as the ultimate platform of vocal ability and talent. I tend to be towards the latter end of the spectrum, as I can't get over the power she has (Grammy performance of It's a Man's World), but she abuses it sometimes (the Etta James tribute).

I think Stripped and Back to Basics are two of the best pop albums in the last decade, especially the former. She shows an amazing versatility and dedication to whatever project she does.

Her last album, while it had some great ideas and an amazing list of collaborators, was just too schizophrenic. Label interference with the tracklist and singles run equated to a disastrous campaign. Followed by a divorce, a media obsession with her weight, and some bad press about her diva attitude on The Voice, I'd say Christina hasn't been in the public's good graces for a while.

Her new single is about to be released and it's called 'Your Body.' A demo leaked, available to listen to here:

She needs a hit to prove her relevancy. We know she has the talent, so let's see if the pop landscape embraces her. Personally... I love this song. Definitely my favorite single from her in a long time. Her label needs to get it on iTunes ASAP, before the demo leak kills its early momentum. I always find myself rooting for her, in spite of her obvious flaws.

Anyone else Team Xtina?

i'm a fan of hers too...Stripped is her best i think, so much great stuff on there. i also think Back to Basics has some amazing tracks, though i would've preferred if she edited it down to 1 disc of the strongest stuff. Bionic was SUCH a mess, which sucks because it had such great buzz leading up to it.

i really like Your Body too. i can definitely hear dance mixes of this, and i imagine they would/will do really well. plus, the public LOVES a good comeback.

Bionic was pretty bad and cooled me on her, and she has MAJOR image problems. I do think she's done some wonderful stuff, though. Stripped and Back to Basics have some startlingly strong songs on them that I think put her in a different league than her contemporaries, frankly. What impresses me the most about her is that some of her work is so personal and heartfelt ... most of these singers with huge voices pretty much DO just wind up singing the phone book, but Christina's really stretched and tried to be an artist. When it works, it works brilliantly.

Of her albums, my favorite is Back to Basics. I know it's uneven, but it has so many highlights.

I LOVE those Xtina modern power pop ballads, like The Voice Within, Hurt and (of course) Beautiful.

Hated songs like Fighter, Can't Hold Us Down, or anything where she's trying to be a gangster feminist.

But yah, she has a ton of amazing songs on Stripped and Back to Basics. Walk Away and Lord Have Mercy give me chills every time.

I think she's an amazing singer but I have never fully enjoyed a whole album of hers. Strong singles (mostly), great stage presence but the way her albums are composed (hitsingles and lots of filler) she feels too much like a manufactored hit-machine to me, without any real identity of her own. I have the same issue with Britney; they're pretty much interchangeable in terms of giving me a popmusic fix.

After Stripped I can't even name you a song. I tried listening to the follow-up album, the one with all the horns on it, and I just didn't dig it.
I loved watching her record for Herbie Hancock, however. She was really particular about things.. kinda made the studio she was recording in look bad, but at least the lady knows what she wants and needs.
She has an incredible voice. If she is ever on the radio again.. I might get inspired to check up on her.

I hate to say it but wasn't a fan until Bionic, which is still a great yet extremely schizophrenic, but the collabs with Sia, M.I.A. and Santigold were just great and a few other cuts, I think the Sia ballads are the best things she's done! all her previous work I can't say I ever liked. I hope I like the new album!

I hope it's nothing like Bionic. That album didn't suit her one bit. She has an incredible voice and soulful songs suit her more. I really love the live version at Hope for Haiti of Lift Me Up. What an incredible vocal performance. The album version is not so great.

Only that is not her body or at least it is not a recent photos as you can see by watching the Voice that she is much bigger now.

I am excited for the new cd and hope that she found songs that actually showcase her vocal abilities.
