Many have made me cry...

I'd say the song with the biggest impact on me was/is Marianne. I can still remember when that song made me cry and, more importantly, why.

Tbh if I'm in a really sad mood, any of her songs will set me off (and I don't mean Not Dying Today )

Playboy Mommy.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

i'll say it loud here by your grave
those angels can't
ever take my place

And such a sweet closing.

i'll be home
to take you in my arms
If Tori put out a hundred more bad albums like ADP/AATS or a hundred more amazing albums, this will always be one of the best lyrics by her (and honestly, by any musician).

Cooling (Studio Version)
Hey Jupiter (Non-Dakota)
Tear in Your Hand
Pretty Good Year
Twinkle

These are the ones that have stayed with me as I've gotten older. Gold Dust also stirs a lot of those emotions in me.

I'm one of those people who has never cried at a piece of music in their entire life, but there are certain tracks that sort of give me that feeling you get when you're about to cry
Me too!
I can't remember actually crying at a piece of music but sometimes it will come close. The Tori songs that stand out in this regard include "Baker Baker" and actually the recent live versions of "Marianne" (from Paris 2010) and "Gold Dust" (from Phoenix 2009, I believe). The piano Tori adds after the "not a chance" lyric in "Marianne" in Paris just resonates so much. It's very simple, very slight, it's like one chord, but it's so perfect. (The amazing quality of the Paris videos is also a contributory factor - the person who recorded that deserves a huge thank you.)

Yeah, I'm not a real cry-er either. But here's a few that give me that verging on feeling:

Father Lucifer - Yes, really. I love the majesty of the trumpets and the melancholy of the whole song. There's this big swirling updraft of hope and optimism - nothing's gonna stop me from floating! But something always does...

Crucify - Really only the bridge, especially when it winds down it sounds like Tori's crying actually. I cry! Uh huh uh huh

"Mother" - When she hits that last final note.

"Me and a Gun" - Tell me what's right.

"Pretty Good Year" - the rolling bass notes right after "let me tell you something about America," and then the stings sweep in again.

"Cloud on My Tounge" - When she sings "you can go now" four times, and the strings start back in again.

"Space Dog" - The bridge is just so beautiful and the lyrics move me, and that hum of the organ at the end.

"Playboy Mommy" - so kitzshy in this way that really works.
Real Men - the mmmmhmmmms
Wampum Prayer - the bitterness of some of the lyrics. Greed is the gift
Toodles Mr. Jim - all of it. This might be my No. 1 The unbelievable sweetness and sadness of it.

That's all I can think of right now.

and definitely her cover of Philadelphia:

i remember having tears streaming down my face the first time i listened to the recording of it. at a time in my life when i was struggling with my sexuality, the line "i won't be ashamed of love" hit me in the gut.

Operator for her brother Michael. I believe this was at a Chicago concert during the ADP tour. Her voice seemed to break and I think she might have been crying at the end, definitely weepy. It made me cry. She then played The Circle Game (Joni Mitchel), a song she and her friends would sing while in the school choir. I loved that show.

How about that bootleg of her singing Sister Janet where she sings: "Take a message to Michael. Message, now. Take a message to Michael. He sings each night." So sad.

Silent All These Years. I can't help it, I was non-verbal for the first 18 years of my life (due to a communicative disorder) so it speaks to me on so many levels.

The bridge was so emotional and beautiful that night. That last quiet "years go by" was devastating and a special sad moment. Normally I'm not a fan of the super-slowed down SATY, but it was a highlight of the show and the best performance of the song I've heard in person.

(taxi ride from 2009)

yeah, that definitely made me ferklempt (sp?) watching it. is there something up with that particular recording though? it doesnt quite sound right, like she's only singing out of the side of her mouth, and other songs from there didnt sound like that.
