Most expats use between 65 KWH and 130 KWH each month? I doubt very much that most people use only between 2 and 4 KWH each day. The scenarios you continue to present through your various user names on DR1 misrepresent reality for the "normal" person.

A see a lot of Dominicans pay bills of between 300 and 2000 a month - some expats such as myself as well.

Dominicans may have a small TV, fan and one light bulb on some hours a day, possibly small refrigerator.

A small refrigerator is under 1kwh per day. 8 hours of 14-20 inch TV .5k kwH per day. Remember much of the time is spent outside. e.g. by the swimming pool or on a patio.

ah I see you have not yet met the Dominican realtor.. so sorry. No, there is no central listings of properties so your agent will only know and show you HER listings and you will have to find the OTHER listings on your own. Really, you have to drive around, then walk around, and pretty much find the place on your own and then call the name if you see a realtor;s sign.

some of the bigger offices like remax or poiny 2 msy have more listings but they really do not help that much for rentals.

En total fueron sumados al novedoso sistema más de 12 mil clientes, ubicados en los barrios Pekín, Cristo Rey, Corea, Los Jazmines, Vietnam, Los Quemados, Camboya, Conani, Las Praderas y Colinas del Sur.

Para dejar oficialmente inaugurado el servicio 24 horas de electricidad, la referida empresa realizó un acto en el multiuso ubicado en Los Jazmines, en el que estuvieron presentes sus principales ejecutivos, así como representantes de las organizadores populares de esos sectores.
El discurso central fue pronunciado por el ingeniero Félix Tavárez, Administrador Gerente General de dicha entidad energética, quien resaltó que la integración de esas barriadas ha permitido que, de tres mil clientes que tenía en octubre pasado, ahora la cifra aumentara a 12 mil, los que pagan cada mes alrededor de 16 millones de pesos.

“La inclusión de los residentes en la parte Sur de aquí significa que Santiago acaba de hacer historia, al convertirse en la primera ciudad con todos sus sectores con el servicio de energía eléctrica ininterrumpida y todo gracias a que los usuarios pagan en más de un 90 por cientos sus facturas”, subrayó.

Significó el ingeniero Tavárez que la mejoría en la calidad del servicio que ofrece la empresa ha permitido que, de 300 mil clientes con que contaba en el 2004, ahora tenga 717 mil abonados en los 70 municipios diseminados en las 14 provincias del Norte.

Dijo que en esa época EDENORTE cobraba un promedio de 357 millones de pesos al mes, cifra que se ha elevado a mil millones; las pérdidas se han reducido de 51 a 27 por ciento, en tanto que el índice de recuperación de efectivos se ha incrementado de 41 al 68 por ciento.

“En estos momentos, de los 717 mil clientes, 457 mil se benefician de luz eléctrica 24 horas y eso lo hemos logrado porque están pagando gracias, de manera fundamental, al trabajo que realizan las instituciones representativas de esos lugares, en combinación con nuestra empresa”, indicó.
En la actividad también hablaron los ingenieros Francisco Méndez, Superintendente de Electricidad y Rafael Gerardo Sosa, Director Comercial Corporativo de EDENORTE, quienes recordaron que la buena gestión administrativa también se pone de manifiesto en localidades como Nagua, San Francisco de Macorís, Moca, La Vega, Bonao, Jarabacoa, Puerto Plata, Santiago Rodríguez y Mao, donde el servicio energético no sufre interrupciones.

Otros funcionarios de la empresa energética presentes fueron los ingenieros Gregorio Amado Padrón, Director del Sector Santiago; Marco Portocarrero, Director Financiero y Jesús Baldayac, Director de Distribución de Redes, así como los miembros del Consejo de Administración Charlie Jorge, Nidita Bisonó, Luís Infante y Mayovanex Martínez.

En nombre de las juntas de vecinos y otras agrupaciones ubicadas en la parte Sur de esta ciudad, dieron las gracias Rafael Paulino y Flérida Alvarez. 1. How often does the power go off? (everyday, bi-weekly etc..)

2. When it does go off how long does it stay off for on average?

Where you will be living makes all the difference. The EDE companies that distribute power have A,B,C and D circuits with A being 24/7 (there are still power outages normally of short duration on an A circuit) and going downhill to D. There are private power companies and gated communities with generators that kick on if the power goes off, but you pay extra, sometimes a lot extra, for that. So, you need to know the exact situation where you plan to live. Do you know where yet? Please do rent for 6 months before you even consider buying a property here.

From 500 to 700 KWH 10.86 $RD

Go over 700 KWH and all consumption is charged at the top rate 10.86 $RD. (That is about $US 0.28 per KWH).

We live in an A zone in los cacicazgos. Our place has a generator, fortunately. Sometimes a week will pass without losing power, and other weeks we will lose power every day at some point. It's unpredictable.

The EDE companies that distribute power have A,B,C and D circuits with A being 24/7 (there are still power outages normally of short duration on an A circuit) and going downhill to D. There are private power companies and gated communities with generators that kick on if the power goes off, but you pay extra, sometimes a lot extra, for that. So, you need to know the exact situation where you plan to live. Do you know where yet? Please do rent for 6 months before you even consider buying a property here.
