Default The psychosocial nature
The notion of identity has a psychosocial nature, it is built at the intersection between individual personality, self-concept, interpersonal relationships and the broader context that surrounds the person (Trimble, Root, & Helms, 2003). One of the relevant contexts for the construction of identity is undoubtedly the Internet and social networks, since they have become a space for social interrelation for adolescents where they can connect with their peers on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook or YouTube (Ahn , 2011; Barker, 2009). In Spain, the use of social networks and the Internet by children and adolescents has grown notably in recent years. For example youtube to mp3 converter, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) shows that 98% of young people between 16 and 24 years old use the Internet frequently (INE, 2016). García, Catalina and López-de-Ayala (2013) find that the sites most frequented by adolescents are social networks, followed by visits to shared video platforms. Regarding the use that young people give to it, studies indicate that in addition to entertainment and the search for information, social networks are used as a means of interaction with those they consider their equals (Barker, 2009).
