A policy is a temporary creed liable to be changed, but while it holds good it has got to be pursued with apostolic zeal.

A principle is the expression of perfection, and as imperfect beings like us cannot practice perfection, we devise every moment limits of its compromise in practice.

A religion that takes no account of practical affairs and does not help to solve them is no religion.

A vow is a purely religious act which cannot be taken in a fit of passion. It can be taken only with a mind purified and composed and with God as witness.

Default Gandhi quotes of the day...
I offer you peace. I offer you love. I offer you friendship. I see your beauty. I hear your need. I feel your feelings. My wisdom flows from the Highest Source. I salute that Source in you. Let us work together for unity and love.

If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.

If we are to carry on a real war against war, we must begin with ourselves!

Sure teaching children is important. But the best way to demostrate good leadership is to start with yourself.

I've hear that quote a lot, and I wonder why he didn't learn the concepts of non violence as he grew up. He was the youngest of six siblings.

I wonder if the statement has anything to do with going from the weakest (youngest) to the most strongest (in marriage)? Did he feel a certain power, when it came to marriage?

I've always heard that violence starts at home. Then, its hard to break the cycle. Gandhi's parents should have taught him about non violence. Anyway.... I'm delighted that he broke the cycle.

The sacrifice which causes sorrow to the doer of the sacrifice is no sacrifice. Real sacrifice lightens the mind of the doer and gives him a sense of peace and joy. The Buddha gave up the pleasures of life because they had become painful to him.
