Just because christians believe in hell doesn't mean it does exist.
I, first of all, do not believe in the devil so therefore there is no hell. blaming my bad actions on the devil is a cop out, I did it and no spiritual being made me do so.
I do believe that those truly evil people in the world, and I would like to believe that somehow they don't "get away with it" in the long run, weather there is a place for them or a non beatific vision as the christians believe or what I do not know.

These are only the musings of a finite creature on infinate thoughts.

I prefer to see my philosphies coming from all the beliefs I have studied. islam/christian/judaism, hindu, buddhist, tao, shamanic, etc; I dont like to catagorize myself one way or the other that much, as things tend to change on a daily basis

The primary function of Hell is to get people to change their religion, by filling them with terror.

This is done by some Christians, who want non-believers to become Christian.
This is done by some Muslims, who want people to become Muslim.

I have a vision. Christians who preach Hellfire should end up in the Muslim Hell.
Muslims who preach Hellfire should end up in the Christian Hell.

There would be a measure of justice in this. People who preach Hell should end up there. People who convert in order to avoid Hell can wonder if they guessed correctly and made the right choice. How sad to convert in order to avoid Hell and guess wrong.

Hell is the manifestation of fear. Without fear, there is no Hell. Further, fear is a choice. I choose not to be afraid.

Part of the problem is institutional religion. Hell has been very good for business. Dare I say it? The churches have been, a Hell of a business.

In my cosmology, seperation from God is an impossibility.

For Hell to be a place, like Texas, would require a location.

I would have to say that Hell is where we make it.
