Actually, you have a good one already- 'In this world there is nothing softer or thinner than water. But to compel the hard and unyielding, it has no equal. That the weak overcomes the strong, that the hard gives way to the gentle -- This everyone knows, yet no one acts accordingly.' |

"Bull #### makes the flowers grow. And that's beautiful"
If they are our brothers, how come we can't eat them? 10. The Earth quakes and the heavens rattle; the beasts of nature flock together and the nations of men flock apart; volcanoes usher up heat while elsewhere water becomes ice and melts; and then on other days it just rains. 11. Indeed do many things come to pass. HBT; The Book of Predictions, Chap. 19 "This book is a mirror. When a monkey looks in, no apostle looks out." -Lichtenberg "common sense is what tells you that the world is flat." "And, behold, thusly was the Law formulated: Imposition of Order = escalation of Disorder!" [H.B.T. ; The Gospel According to Fred, 1:6] "Grasshopper always wrong in argument with chicken" -Book of Chan compiled by O.P.U. sect The words of the Foolish and those of the Wise Are not far apart in Discordian Eyes. (HBT; The Book of Advise, 2:1) Everybody understands Mickey Mouse. Few understand Herman Hesse. Only a handfull understood Albert Einstein. And nobody understood Emperor Norton. (Slogan of NORTON CABAL - S.F.) The human race will begin solving it's problems on the day that it ceases taking itself so seriously. And when men become free then mankind will be free. May you be free of The Curse of Greyface. May the Goddess put twinkles in your eyes. May you have the knowledge of a sage, and the wisdom of a child. If George Harrisons music is not religious text it should be!
Isn't It A Pity (Harrison) Isn't it a pity, isn't it a shame How we break each other's hearts, and cause each other pain How we take each other's love, without thinking anymore Forgetting to give back Isn't it a pity Somethings take so long, but how do I explain? When not too many people can see we're all the same And because of all their tears, their eyes can't hope to see The beauty that surrounds them-oh Isn't it a pity |

There are so many...
Richard Bach "Illusions..." Don't turn away from possible futures before you're certain you don't have anything to learn from them. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly. There are no mistakes. The events we bring upon ourselves, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever steps we take, they're necessary to reach the places we've chosen to go. Og Mandino's God Memorandum... Weep no more. I am with you ... and this moment is the dividing line of your life. All that has gone before is like unto no more than that time you slept within your mother's womb. What is past is dead. Let the dead bury the dead. AND... You have been born again ... but just as before, you can choose failure and despair or success and happiness. The choice is yours. The choice is exclusively yours. I can only watch, as before ... in pride ... or sorrow. Dean Koontz One Door Away From Heaven... Change isn’t easy…Changing the way you live means changing how you think. Changing how you think means changing what you believe about life…When we make our own misery, we sometimes cling to it even when we want so bad to change, because the misery is something we know. The misery is comfortable… “Its also true that sometimes…your life can change for the better in one moment of grace, almost a sort of miracle. Something so powerful can happen, someone so special comes along, some precious understanding descends on you so unexpectedly, that it just pivots you in a new direction, changes you forever.” The Journeyer by Gary Jennings “A life entirely devoted to the avoidance of wrong seldom achieves anything exceptionally right – or anything at all.” But the one that often gets me thru the day is "This too shall pass" Student: Master, tell me something that will make me laugh if I am crying? Master: Just contemplate the meaning of these words: "And this too shall pass." Student: Oh, I see, master. Well, Master, what will make me cry if I am laughing? Master: Just contemplate the meaning of these words: "And this too shall pass." When you truly begin to understand, you will be enlightened, and enlightenment does not pass. Great topic Madgael!!! ![]() |

Chuang Tzu, Chapter 13, translation by Burton Watson:
"The sage is still not because he takes stillness to be good and therefore is still. The ten thousand things are insufficient to distract his mind - that is the reason he is still. Water that is still gives back a clear image of beard and eyebrows; reposing in the water level, it offers a measure to the great carpenter. And if water in stillness possesses such clarity, how much more must a pure spirit. " |

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Psalm 23
1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. THE FIVE WISE WORDS OF THE GURU 'But listen carefully, and remember five parting counsels which I will give you; and if you keep these no evil shall befall you. First -- always obey without question the orders of him whose service you enter; second -- never speak harshly or unkindly to anyone; third -- never lie; fourth -- never try to appear the equal of those above you in station; and fifth -- wherever you go, if you meet those who read or teach from the holy books, stay and listen, if but for a few minutes, that you may be strengthened in the path of duty.' This last one is from a fairy tale that I like alot. |

"The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in. He must reflect what is projected upon him. And he must have a strong sense of the sardonic. This is what uncouples him from belief in his own pretensions. The sardonic is all that permits him to move within himself. Without this quality, even occasional greatness will destroy a man." * from Collected Sayings of Muad'Dib by the Princess Irulan |

"Much that was called religion has carried an unconscious attitude of hostility toward life. True religion must teach that life is filled with joys pleasing to the eye of God, that knowledge without action is empty. All men must see that the teaching of religion by rules and rote is largely a hoax. The proper teaching is recognized with ease. You can know it without fail because it awakens within you that sensations which tells you this is something you've always known." Conclusion of the Commentaries in "Appendix II: The Religion of Dune" |

"The Universe is God's. It is one thing, a wholeness against which all separations may be identified. Transient life, even that self-aware and reasoning life which we call sentient, holds only fragile trusteeship on any portion of the wholeness." Selected quotes from the Commission of Ecumenical Translators’ Orange Catholic Bible Commentaries |
