Big Pharma: Keeping Us Sick?
 

It has been a long time since I've heard or read of any cures to illnesses. Is it possible that big pharma and big medical are just making too much money off our illnesses to justify actually CURING them?

To some degree I would agree. I also think alot of diseases can be cured by research being done with stem cells...it being the next big fronteer I think allot of resources are being invested.

Hell I will take it a step further... I think it's possible that some rogue entities are MAKING us sick.

Let's take war for example. While in the military I was talking to this soldier that was going to college to be a Genetisist. We were talking about AIDS and how it came about. He looked at me and said "let me put it this way.. what is the easiest way to defeat the enemy?" I said "our objective is to take away their will to fight so that we don't have to kill them all, in essence save their life" he said "correct. Now what's the best way to do that?" I thought hard and came up with "make them sick" he said "Bingo!!!! what if we tested a weapon that was designed to give soldiers a REALLYYYYYYYYYYY bad cold by turning off their immunity system but it back fired... it didn't turn back on when we tested it on villages in remote Africa?" I said "holy shit, it would spread like wild fire" he said "zactly"

I could go on with weapons of war for a long time. Weird diseases are popping up everywhere! Flesh eating disease? WTF? SARS? other new sexually transmitted diseases, weaponized west nile in America? WTF? etc.

To add to how likely this could be... during Pres. Clinton's admin he fired the Sec of Energy that he hired for coming public for Gov't crimes against Americans during the cold war.
Injecting black pregnant women against their knowledge with plutonium to see what it does to the fetus.
Using LSD on Black American soldiers to see how to make better interigation methods.
Putting US soldiers in trenches and blowing up Nuclear Weapons to see the lasting result of radiation on humans.

There are many other cases that the Fed. Gov't has never been held accountable for.

Storm, if you goverment is so despicable (like basically every other goverment out there) why do you defend it so much?

It's not perfect...but what's the alternative?

NO ONE!

Face it, we stopped having "patients" in this country a long time ago. We are now all CUSTOMERS.

It's all about repeat business.

It's a scary thought isn't it? Unfortunately the ones spending money on R&D for new drug are pharmaceutical companies. They develop the drugs and then the FDA approves or denies based on the drug trials. But who conducts the trials? The drug companies. The very same people who stand the most to gain from sales. For instance, take a drug company who's patented a drug that alleviates pain from gastro-intestinal reflux angina and makes 1.5 billion dollars a year from sales of that drug. What incentive do they have to develop a cure for reflux angina?

I don't know what "open mind" you mean. I think my mind is pretty open in some respects. I don't want to be so open-minded that I lose the ability to disticuish the difference between what is right and wrong. I started this thread because I thought it could make for a good discussion. I'm not bashing pharmaceutical companies. I own stock in a few of them. I just think the system is a bit flawed when the companies that do the clinical trials are the same companies that stand the most to gain if a certain drug passes the different stages. Add to that the amount of new drugs that have been pulled off shelves in recent years, clearly showing that there were adverse health effects. Plus everybody loves a good conspiracy...LOL

I've seen some documentaries about aids in youtube and I was like, "no, this can't be true!"
So scientists say it's impossible for aids to be caused by any virus.
Many aids patients are HIV-
Millions of Africans are HIV+ but don't develop aids symptoms.
Scientists say being HIV+ is good, it means antibodies were found in your body...and if you have antibodies for something it means you are imune, it's impossible otherwise.
They say the moment you start taking aids medicines is the moment you deveop aids.

I really don't know the truth but something fishy is going on.
Bush recently gave another $50 billion to aids research. How come with all the money no one finds anything?
I think with that money I would have discovered the cure for every illness in the world. :p
