I'm the opposite of a science fiction fan. I never watched Star Trek and had to force myself to watch Star Wars so I'd quit missing all of the 'inside jokes' when I was a kid.

Now I just don't care.

The Original Battlestar Galatica was crap. A glorified Saturday Morning Cartoon. The BSG re imaged is totally different. A dark story about refuges fleeing Nuclear Annihilation at the hands of the machines they built. Machines that think they are God's chosen ones and that Humanity is a flawed doomed race that needs to be wiped out and exterminated before they come back and exterminate the Cylons. It has Sex, Politics, Religious battles. Realistic technology. No ray guns or phasers here. The guns fire bullets and the big weapons are nuclear bombs. They have telephones and standard radios.

It was live action but it might as well BEEN a cartoon with the dialogue and imagery involved. Not that anything in the 70s was all that adult.
