The middle name is "Hadley" not "Hardley".
I have read quite a lot of his novels when I was a teenager. I will have to search the attic in my house in Chennai,(when I reach back India) for some copies. You can still get old copies in Delhi Connaught Place, "old books wallahs" or just in front of "Chennai Central Railway Station". |

Hi,
Ravi I have read the book you mentioned. However I dont recall the name. I have read almost all JHC novels twice. AMit you have not explained your point on "believe this and youll believe everything" clearly. I dont understand what you wanted to say. In anycase "The vulture is a patient bird i one of my favorites" |

Bharath:
The name of the book (see my first mail) about blackmail in Florida by 3 people and the "Go to hell" ending is "want to Stay alive?" like Amit mentioned. And yes, I did not get Amit's point either about "Believe this...." and hynotism. "The Vulture" is indeed a great book by Chase. I managed to get a copy after several weeks of searching. Well, for those of you looking for Chase books, as you know most of them are out of print. A few are still in print in India, and amazon.com still is coming out with reprints. For the most part though, you will have to be satisfied with used paperbacks, probably in average condition. I have bought about 60 of his books just on the internet just by hunting around the used bookstore sites. I now have 81 of his books, the last 11 are still eluding me, but the beat goes on... |

Does anyone what is the name of the JHC book set in Florida (where else?) in which 3 people, 1 American Indian, a white American and his girlfriend go around scaring rich people to leave envelopes with I think $500 each under telephones in booths... Or else their lives were supposedly in danger. In the end only the girlfriend survives, and the last scene is set in a beach bench where she opens one last envelope left by a rich guy. Great, she thinks, I at least have $500. When she opens the envelope, one guy would have the guts to leav a note saying: Go to Hell
Great book!!!! I would liketo buy it if I could, except I dont know the name. SOmeone once told me that it was a fake, if that was a fake, the author was better than Chase. |
